Black Ops II doesn't feature a branching single-player storyline

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will not feature a branching storyline, Treyarch director of communications John Rafacz, has told VideoGamer.com.

Asked to clarify the impact of Strike Force missions on the overall campaign storyline, particularly regarding a branching storyline, Rafacz said: "It shapes the fiction around the ending." (Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

That's okay, no one expected one. Call of Duty games are not games that are supposed to have the player make choices that impact the games narrative. That is not the core theme is Call of Duty. The core theme of Call of duty is, "war is awesome and killing impoverished, poorly-equipped brown people is fun."

I'm fine with that.

Basically, there will be different endings, but the overall levels are the same. There is no branching into different levels. Its how you play the levels that determine the ultimate end.

To be honest, that is better than nothing, especially for a CoD game. Even that little change is a lot for a franchise that doesn't like steering away from it's roots.
