"EA says it wants its Origin download platform to be a better version of all the other portals on the market.
The firm’s senior VP of global ecommerce David DeMartini has also responded to Valve and Steam boss Gabe Newell’s criticism that Origin has yet to do anything ‘super-well’ – adding that he is delighted that the platform is now ‘part of the conversation.’", writes MCV.
(Go back to CS1.6 when Steam was new)
Actually, Valve doesn't even allow any other digital retailer to sell their games.
Real difference between the two is just that Valve is likeable, while EA isn't.
Not true.
http://store.origin.com/sto...
You can order physical copies of Valve's games online (EA Store, Amazon, BestBuy, etc) but not digital versions of Valve's games.
Considering that the physical copies usually only contain a steam-activatable code (and maybe some pre-loaded files which require a heavy amount of patches), buying physical is just an inconvenient and more expensive method of buying those games compared against digital... with Valve being the only option if you want to buy digital.
Valve just cares, so gamers care about Valve. EA should probably learn how friendships work...
It's almost sad to see someone comparing them as equals.
Good One.
steam is just overall better origin does a couple of things better but steam is far ahead.
Okay EA...
I hope The Assassin's Creed series, The Darkness 2, Crysis 2 and the Witcher 2 all go on sale. I've never played any of the Assassins Creed games, but after seeing the E3 footage of AC3, I gotta get in on this series.
Does anyone know if the control sceme is any good for The Wtcher 2? I heard the Witcher 1's controls were pretty bad.
$400 of spending money for the summer sale, bro.
I'm gonna get Arma II: CO and play some DayZ, along with a bunch of other games.
EA only started Origin so it could enhance its DRM ability and be an even bigger nuisance than it already is, with its on disc DLC, day 1 DLC, lies, buying and shutting down of good studios.
I hope they will work hard trying to get there. while Im very happy with Steam it does need competition to keep evolving and to get better.
Now a question... Will Crysis 3 be available on Steam from launch? Anyone?
They have a lot of very strong franchises but try too hard to be number one in every genre, and marketplace.
If someone is making a dollar anywhere in the industry, EA wants to destroy them and take their place.
its sad, but its true.
The only people who defend EA are viral marketers.
If someone is defending EA they must work for EA.
What's wrong? Browsing by 10 at a time by sliding pages. If you click on a game and use the back button, you've reset the page count! There's also no real way to browse besides genres with 10 items at a time with the most recent first.
Steam (to me) is THAT much better than Origin.
lol keep dreaming you idiots especially when you rip people off with the same trash every year.
