Sakurai, Kobayashi on New Super Smash Bros.

Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai are working together on the latest Super Smash Bros. Project lead Masahiro Sakurai and Namco Bandai producer Masaya Kobayashi provided first word on the collaboration on Nintendo.com tonight.

The story is too old to be commented.

As a Tekken fan, Im very disappointed that the development staff of the Tekken series is involved in this. This almost guarantees a longer wait for Tekken 7 next gen, not sure this effects Tekken X Street Fighter though

I am a Tekken fan also, and I love this news!

I guess I don't have to mention that I am also a Smash Bros. fan. Tekken Tag 2 is coming out this year, and Sony and Microsoft haven't even announced their new consoles. You were going to have to wait for a next gen Tekken 7 anyway.

These are some talented people, and to have developers like this put their experience into the smash bros formula is fantastic! it is a different project, and experience is experience, so i do not know why people are worried. Its not like it will be an arcade fighter. we have all these top devs working under sakurai. This is good.

does this mean that smash bros will finally have depth? probably not but one can hope

omarzy1998d ago

which game have you been playing?

kesvalk1998d ago

can this mean smash bros will have that announcer from soul calibur?

"between mushrooms and pipes, his soul drives forward..."

"a hero and his sword forever entwined in the legend of battle..."

"her armor, shining in the light of the battlefield, shows her fighting in unending..."

i love that guy!

I just hope it doesn't become flooded with a load of third-party characters from Namco and the like. A few 3Ps are fine (only about 10% of the total amount of characters), but Sakurai shouldn't feel obligated to fill half of the roster with Namco characters just because they're working on the game with him. It was a Nintendo oriented game from the beginning and should do its best to follow that tradition. Again, a few 3p characters are fine, just don't go overboard with it.

*hypocritically crosses fingers in hopes of the slim chance that Master Chief will be a 3p*
