Project Sora, Namco Bandai developing next Smash Bros.

Namco Bandai will be one of the main developers behind the next Smash Bros. games according to Satoru Iwata. (3DS, Super Smash Bros., Wii U)

dont know how i feel about this but then this will be the likely hood of a tales character jioning the roster
ThePsychoGamer  +   1137d ago
Not really, in fact this actually makes it less likely that a Tales character, or any other character from a Namco Bandai game will me in the next super smash bros.
Most of the time cross over games are actually developed by companies that own the any of the IPs that appear is said game.

And predictions for what Namco character will appear in the next Smash Bros. game begin...NOW!

Yuri playable. Do it. Do it right now. I'll fight you. I don't even care.

Not sure how I feel about this at all. So long as the quality of the series still remains high, it still remains that Smash Bros. feel, and doesn't feature anymore retarded out of place 3rd party characters then I am totally happy.
Ashunderfire86  +   1137d ago
Smash Bro Brawl had Sonic and Snake as guest characters, so what is the problem with a 3rd party character? As long as it works it is ok.

Probably Nintendo doesn't have enough money due to all the loses, New Console and New Handheld..
SpitTake  +   1137d ago
Or maybe, like they said, a game being developed on two systems at once takes alot of time and to get it out on time they need assistance, but sure, I guess you know more then them
Timmer  +   1137d ago
They have enough money to lose a billion a year for 50 years, and still run a business.

Not a practical business model, but still.
StarFox  +   1137d ago
No what it is that nintendo knows that SSB is gonna take years to make since they just started it, partnering with namco will really speed up the process. but in a good way though they really have top tier devs from namco.

Troll guy is trolling.
jonboi24  +   1137d ago
So out of all the fighting dev teams Namco has none of them are working on this game, WTF? I'm kind of worried about this game. There's still the fact they have to make 2 different Smash games from scratch on 2 different systems.
Kakkoii  +   1137d ago
I'm sure they are probably still using the same base engine, but merely updating the graphics and creating new characters, game UI, multiplayer, story, etc.. Nintendo knows that hell would be raised if the core mechanics were changed in a significant way.
xtheownerzx  +   1137d ago
Not quite sure what to think about this. I need to see a trailer or something before I make any judgments about this but i have a good feeling about this though.
majiebeast  +   1137d ago
Dunno how i feel about this last time nintendo teamed up we got Other M not a bad game, but far from any other metroid out there.

Namco Bandai has been consistently been making great quality titles such as the Tales of games, Tekken, and Ni No Kuni. They're my fave company right now so I'm happy this is the case.
Dannycr  +   1137d ago
Ni No Kuni is made by Level-5, not Namco Bandai. They are just distributing the game on the West.
omarzy  +   1137d ago
gimme those tales characters.
Timmer  +   1137d ago
At least Sakurai is still involved. I don't fear for it's development.

Also, I hope Namco is developing the 3DS version, while Project Sora sticks to the Wii U.
Shok  +   1137d ago
Guys, if you would read/do research, you'd know that Sakurai is still heading ALL development of both games. Namco is simple AIDING Nintendo in the development process of the games. They're not calling any shots or making decisions, they're basically hired help.

This is great news because this means we'll see the game sooner than expected.
PopRocks359  +   1137d ago
Sakurai has gone on record to say he'll take in more input from his team though. So regardless the development team will have at least a small say in some of the creative development.

This is great news to me since Namco is known for great fighting game balance. Not to mention the potential character roster! Gimme some Nightmare and Lloyd Irving and this'll be a day one purchase for me... not that it wasn't going to be before.
StarFox  +   1137d ago
oh shit, this is gonna be freaking awesome Project Sora + Namco is like the dream team when it comes to fighting games. plus another good thing we can expect the online to be top notch just like all namcos fighting games. can't wait
Afterlife  +   1137d ago
Pacman confirmed.
Khordchange  +   1137d ago
How would that work, he has no arms/legs How would he Grab Opponents
PopRocks359  +   1137d ago
No arms and legs you say...?

Also Rayman has no arms or legs and he'd still be a great addition.

Gimme Seigfried of Jin Kazama.
NonSpecificActionFig  +   1137d ago
Guess Nintendo is cashing in a check, considering they own some stock in Bandai/Namco......finally going to make them work on a project for them. I cant say I am happy with the news at the moment, but I will try to reserve my judgement until I see some of the product in motion. Cautiously optimistic at the moment !

Lloyd Irving Confirmed???
Dravidian  +   1137d ago
This is absolutely great news. Anyone who's played a tales game can tell you that the basic battle system is actually really similar to smash. I can see this turning out very well. Heck, you can practically copy and paste any tales character and you'd only have to worry about balance.
iamlegend9999  +   1137d ago
Now how will this turn out?
user5467007  +   1136d ago
This is not good news...everytime something like this happens the gasme either changes too much or it ends up not being as good.

WTF Nintendo...why do this
TruthbeTold  +   1136d ago
Lloyd Irving and/or Yuri Lowell ftw! Hell it's Smash Bros. How about Genis Sage? I'd love to see Meteor Storm as his Final Smash.
