PSN Down For Some, Error Coding 8071053D and NP-2239-6
Just as we thought we’d be able to have a full week without unscheduled downtime, disaster has struck again, with the PSN going down for some users. - PSLS
(PS Vita, PS3, PSP)
It seems like PSN is "down" more times on N4G articles than it actually is in real life. Almost every time there's a new article claiming that it's down, I'm either already playing a game online no problem or able to sign in just fine.
Sometimes it's just maintenance and lasts no more than 1 or 2 hours. Other times it's isolated events happening to only one or a few people but the media sensationalizes it as something global, which many times is false.
Overall, I think this type of journalism gives people the illusion that something is worse than it actually is.
I've never had any problems with PSN except for that 1 month last year while Sony was revamping its security.
its prob not down at all, 1 guy prob got an error and rather than attempting to sign in again, goes writes an article saying its down. Every time i see these articles, i've been playing cod for hrs and no issues. Honestly the only down time i've personally had was when psn got majorly hacked and shutdown. I never see live is down cause simply it dont get to the top on this site as its a 360fanboy haven despite all claims its ps3fanboy. Don't get me wrong, i get these errors too, wanna know how to fix it, its a secret but I'm willing to share, reboot modem/router.
i have never had trouble with PSN other than the leap year thing and the whole hacking thing. first time i cant log on to PSN. I still feel PSN is a good and idk people bash on it and compare it to XBox live
I don't know, I constantly hear PSN is down either for maintenance or there are some other issues. It's like every other week now.
When PSN is taken down due to schedule maintenance, it's like for a day.

It's a little unfair to compare a paid service to a free service. It goes both ways, if it is free and I don't hold it up to as much expectations which translates to I expect more from MS too.
That said, MS has been pretty damn good at keeping Xbox Live stable and provide reporting tools. You can easily check if a particular service has issues such as matchmaking, Netflix, UFC, Hulu, and etc. It's premium price with premium service.
Not going to lie, it is down often enough that it is a little bit of a bother. I cant really complain though, its still free and works more often than not. Aside from the PSN hack, and this (though im online now, so it hasnt affected me) not really been any problems.
A lot of the time its like, a few people get errors signing in and assume PSN is down lol
@nukeitall i understand your view and i agree but for being a free service it does good. Like i said i had no problems and this is the first time. I heard many times on N4G that PSN is down but when i check i log on n nothing wrong. I also have Xbox live but hardly use it to play. I use PSN more often for movies music and games. I also expect a lot for a paid service and xbox live is doing a good job to keep the people happy. I also have some complains on both services but Sony and xbox could only do so much

I've very rarely, if ever, had any problems with PSN except for that 1 month last year while Sony was revamping its security.
Tried buyiing 21 jump street yesterday but wasn't allowed !! lmao why do you guys always assume something positive whenever the servers are down? Doubt thats the reason because I hardly see people or talk to individuals that have ps+. I doubt many have it because if many did have it sony would have bragged about it. Don't own an xbox 360 but from what i can tell is that their servers are way more stable.
Hm... it's interesting people seem to experience this, outside the scheduled maintenance and the hack where it was down for a month... I've never experienced any downtime outside of the services menu. Always been able to log in and play.
Makes ya wonder what all this "scheduled maintenance" actually fixes. We NEVER see the results. It would be nice to see some firmware updates add a feature or two, been forever.
Ok, let me say I have owned both systems for over 4 years and have played online on both extensively. I only play COD on 360 which I do enjoy, however, there is no way in hell XBOX Live is worth 60$ a year when PSN is almost identical. Live is definitely a little better for online play, but not by too much. And, for the amount M$ charges per year, it better work damn well. Just paying to have the priviledge of say playing Dark Souls on Live which is certainly no better than playing it for free on PSN is ludicrous, it makes no sense. Now games that get early DLC and are extremely popular like COD make Live worth it, but that's where it ends.
PSN allows bigger battlefields it seems, games like Warhawk, MAG, Starhawk since last month is massive explosive fun and soon Dust 514. No need to chat with your buddy playing CoD when you are playing one of these games. They all run great with big numbers and do it for free, what more do we want?
"Disaster has struck..." You know, where is all this drama when hundreds of users get their XBL accounts hacked on a regular basis? Where is it when Microsoft intentionally perma-bans thousands users, around the time a new CoD or Halo title comes out, so they have to run out and buy a new 360 just to play the game? Seriously. PSN goes down for a few hours, most likely for maintenance (I mean, god forbid that Sony actually makes good on their promise of keeping the network secure!), and the entire world seems to go up in flames. My god, you people who make these are stupid as hell, and it's obvious what you're trying to do. You make a huge deal everytime PSN is down just so 360 and PC fans can use as gasoline for more of the "PSN is crap" BS.
Oh and would you look at that. The Network has been back up since I've been writing this comment. Stupid stupid people... -_-
Lmao dude are you gonna be ok? Your really getting stressed out over nothing. Your really worked up. Why on earth would you even care if a few other people dont like PSN? lol
To be honest, the last time I had trouble signing in was the hack last year. I had trouble getting into the store the other week but thats it, everytime I hear of something like this im always able to go on.
My 360's "live" service has gone down a few times that weren't posted on n4g, as was my psn. Im thinking its just the nature of the beast of keeping these massive services running.
Only my PSN works perfectly? Well, i have net problems cause my provider is a hamster in a wheel, but i never got any error code in these days. Well... lucky me =P
see what i tell you system down this is what you get when you get FREE ONLINE FREE ONLINE FREE ONLINE but its cool tho right sony fans its cool you cant get online right now you guyz kill me

It's free, so as you say you can't really complain. PSN is a fine service for being free.
Although Steam trounces the competition, but has no console presence unfortunately.
Also, I appreciate your honesty! Giving you an agree and a bubble as I want to hear more from you!

I've very rarely, if ever, had any problems with PSN except for that 1 month last year while Sony was revamping its security.
Also I have had a lot of problems with my PS3 connecting to my media centers like TVersity.
Here's hoping these issues get resolved soon.

Long as peeps can play online all is well.
Neither services never goes down.
That being stated I gave up on PSN a loooong time ago for this very reason.
Well... lucky me =P
