BagoGames: The Future of Game to Film Adaptations

We already know that game to film adaptations can become hugely successful at the box office by looking at blockbusters like Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, and Prince of Persia. We also know that adapting a game to film will not always lead to success, as we all try to forget about films such as DOA: Dead or Alive or Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. Ubisoft knows this especially well, as their only contribution of adapting a game to film so far has been the flop film Far Cry, which if you have a Netflix account you can go check out on instant stream. This seems it would make a good movie. Just the conspiracy side of it. But game to movie is always tricky.

Some of those mentioned were tricky. Silent Hill wasn't universally received, and a new Silent Hill movie is in the works to do the game actual justice. The Tomb Raider movies were entertaining to a degree. But how did Max Payne with Mark Walburg do? Hitman?

Just in general game movies don't do well. Do i need to mention Mario, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter, etc etc..

I thoroughly enjoyed the Silent Hill movie and am anxiously awaiting the release of the sequel.

True Silent Hill wasn't universally received, but if you check the box office to movie cost value - the films that were mentioned all made far more then their cost to make which attributes their success. I believe Mortal Kombat made the most...

This is interesting finally seeing the reversal of the game and movie genres. Seeing games made into movies first instead of movies that are transferred into game adaptations. I really hope this actually works out.

That's a great way of looking at it. Maybe this shift in perspective could yield some more entertaining results

I rather not see a movie from this game. I just don't see it being any count. We also don't even know if the game will be good.

I loved how terrible the Far Cry movie was. In fact, I'm extremely thankful that God created Uwe Bowell because that man is the king of terrible video game film adaptations! House of the Dead? Heck Yes!!!
