TSA: "I’m a fan, but I’m not blind to the issues that the earlier games in the Solid lineage had and have since been slowly stripped away in later games; going back to Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater requires the player to rewire their muscle memories to wipe off the last decade of gaming."
Other than that, I'm still buying it.
Uh.. no buddy sorry. Those were the original Metal Gear series for the MSX . The ones from Nintendo were garbage that has nothing to do with the series at all.
Cool... I forgot about the MSX games and just assumed they were the Nintendo games. Thanks for the reminder
On another note i dont know if i should pick it up for Vita or ps3? What you guys suggest? Does it look stunning on the Vita?
It even looks a bit better than the XBOX 360/PS3 version
Would like a MGS specific Vita game though. That, or even MGS4 with Subsistence/Substance type additions. But just like the poster above me, never would I had even thought that I would be playing these cult classic games on the Uptown D train in Manhattan.
First thing is the mechanics of the g@me is terrible. You cannot walk down, and you cannot aim and walk at the same time. By being a Japanese g@me, the characters are very cartoonish, similar to the design of Pokemon, which irritated me a lot. And worst of all is that the stealth g@me is very weak.
If you want a good stealth gam3, buy the old Splinter Cell, which mechanics of gam3play are much better and the story is more mature and intelligent.
It's sad because I really wanted to like this game, I invested much money in it, but did not like because it is simply awful.
So, for those who have never played Metal Gear, I do not recommend at all, you will waste money.
As you are entitled to your criticism, I will however address your negative statement. Judging from your remarks, you are unflexible when it comes to video games, and the fact that you brought up silly statements like "similar to the design of Pokemon" and "stealth game is weak" pretty much invalidates all your points.
First off, both games work on stealth a bit differently. MGS forces to use your sandbox environment to your advantage trying to get by with what's available to you.
Splinter Cell, while sandbox in nature, tends to be more stealth friendly when it comes to the game. Taking out all the enemies is a sure fire way to get through the mission without issues. In MGS, you don't get that privilege. The game mechanics is designed around cat-n-mouse scenarios while splinter cell gives you a stealth or shoot-out scenario.
Again, both games do well in what they do, you simply just need to put the effort into learning new game mechanics. It's your call to enjoy what you can but with what you just said earlier doesn't exactly justify any points you made.
It was really bothering me as I was reading your completely baseless comparison of MGS to Pokemon.
