The Wii U Launch Lineup Isn't Bad

"Coming out of Nintendo’s E3 conference, many people were disappointed by the lack of surprises and the supposed lack of good launch games. It seems to be a divisive issue, with some gamers excited for the Wii U games while others remain severely underwhelmed. I personally remain cautiously optimistic about the Wii U. While I agree that the Wii U launch lineup is missing that surprising, must-buy first-party title everyone was expecting Retro to make, the launch games are still quite strong.

Historically, consoles have launched with either few games, bad games, or both. Compared to the PS3 and 360’s launch games, the Wii U is looking pretty good. The question is, is it enough to make the Wii U successful with both the hardcore and casual audiences when it’s launching during the twilight of the current console generation?"

The Wii U launch lineup is pretty good in my opinion and I will most likely get a Wii U on launch day as well.

I agree with PopRock you saying how Pikmin and mario terrible ? so 2 games are considered good line-up? what if someone don't like those spesific two game? get AC,Batman-Darksiders you say? why get them on WIiU if i can get them on my PS or Xbox i already own? why get a port ? The only good game there is ZombieU.So yeha the line-up is terrible.

The Wii U launch lineup isn't bad for Nintendo fans. I don't see any games that would make people go rush out and buy the Wii U day one outside of Nintendo fans.

PS3 only had Resistance in America and Ridge Racer in Japan and that's it, so why is people saying bad things about the WiiU's line up? The WiiU's launch line up has at least 10 good games (and I want 7 games). Why is it terrible?

Also, some third parties already confirmed they have more games to announce (EA is probably going to announce more WiiU games at gamescom, they said they will talk about it at the end of summer, so it's probably gamescom).

It will get better with time.. Launches are always a bit disappointing.. After a year in & theres still nothing great, then u should start to worry.. Nintendo will keep itself alive through 1st party games even if the worst case scenario happens

Yeah however, this is 2012 and the 360 and PS3 already have a massive catalog of games. You also don't need to pay upwards of $300 to play them.

It really is a good launch lineup. I remember the ps3/360/ps2/gc, everything lineup. 5 games, with no known franchises. This is a solid choice of games available for a console launch.

The first Wii was the first Nintendo console *I* skipped. (I don't feel like I missed must honestly)

I'm more than willing, and even enthusiastic about purchasing a Wii U this "holiday season."

That being said, it's because I can afford it and am dying for ANY new console.

The launch line-up, to me, isn't very appealing. ZombiU is what has me most intrigued. Aside from that there a few 3rd-party titles like AC3,ME3,B:AC,Alien:CM that I could get, but I barely call that justification for buying a Wii U since I could play those on either of my two console I already own.
Nintendo should really opportunize on making these few 3rd-party titles 'superior' on the Wii U - it would help them greatly.

The launch titles is not what disappoint everyone but is that Nintendo didn't announce no metroid no star Fox no game that most people was craving for super Mario bros and pikmin 3 will be games that a lot of people would enjoy but that not enough to convince the real nintendo fansboys

Honestly,

I was let down by the line-up, because I was worried about Nintendo's stated goal with the "Hardcore" and I think I was being the typical Nintendo brat wishing for a peek at Metroid and LoZ.

I got over it quick.

All Hands-On Previews have shown even the revamped ports to be fun and worth re-plays.

BatMan:AC:AA - is re-worked and handles differently on WiiU. Some Previews called it more immersive.

Ninja Gaiden- Has been re-done. Combat system changed, Dis-memberment is back, more blood (for those who care).

Ubisoft called AC3 for WiiU the BEST version of the game.

Gearbox called Aliens the BEST version of the game.

The line-up is awesome.
And there are games announced last year like:

Battle Front (announced last year)
Dragon Quest X (MMO)
Then who knows what EA will bring (probably all there titles cause they still support Wii).

So, that's over 23 titles in the 1st 4 months of the console?

Good Job Nintendo.

PS The "Hardcore" won't be pleased because most of them just like picking on Nintendo
and Nintendo Fans (like me) should already know that Zelda and Metroid are coming. Seeing a 3 sec. clip of the game won't make that less or more true.

The launch is bad because it's full of software that could be brought on the console/PC you already own.....None of the titles outside of that zombie game/Rayman caught my attention....

I think people are just pissed off that Retro's game isn't included. Honestly, I think it's a really good launch lineup compared to others I've seen. 360 just had CoD2, Kameo, and Perfect Dark; PS3 just had Resistance and Ridge Racer; and Wii just had Zelda, Warioware, and Red Steel.

I mean, Pikmin, P-100, Rayman, Zombi, Mario, Aliens, Game and Wario - those are all games that I would love to get...

Nintendoland looks pretty legit too even though my first impressions of it were really bad.

First most systems launch line ups are not great. Second to everybody who keeps talking up the older games ( Mass effect3, Batman, and Ninja Gaiden) you hope they are improved versions, but that has yet to be seen. If you havent yet played these games I suggest you go buy a 360 or PS3 cause if you missed those than you missed a lot of other great games. except NG3 cause that was a huge let down. Third there is a lot of game on that list so my guess, keeping with an industry wide trend is some of them will be pushed back. And lastly if you have aleady decided you where buying a wii u they could have launched with just mario and pikmin
