Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is the best fighting game of this generation - here's why

GamesRadar:

Block, punch, kick. That's it. Three buttons and you move with the d-pad. The simplicity is devastating, yet thousands of moves can be triggered by using just these buttons. It's a masterpiece of game design and the culmination of almost 20 years of evolution since the 1993 original. Remarkably, it hasn't become bloated in that time. And, thanks to this rejigged re-release, Virtua Fighter feels fresher than ever. In fact after caning Final Showdown for a week now, I've come to a personal conclusion that it is the best fighting game of the generation. (Arcade, PS3, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, Xbox 360)

The simple yet complex buttons really make it great.

Because it doesn't have Devil Jin? VF games seem pretty good, because their isn't really over power characters in it or characters that have a attack that beats everything else.

No it's not

the only thing that drove me away from the series is its hit impact, it feels as if you're hitting thin air.

Street fighter is and always will be the best. it made fighting games into an actual genre back in 86 and did it again after it was dead in 2009.

SF is the mario of fighting games. Even MK9 (as good as it was) took everything from SF and finally made the first good MK game in 10 years.

That being said VF5 is preety awesome lol.

only thing sf did in 09 is bring 2d back! 3d fighters never left and SF1 did nothing for fighters. MK is a crappy series on all fronts.

tekken is number 1 period.. VF is second. low spammers are killing this for me. VF also has way to many moves lost in each game

I agree, VF is a great fighting game, and easily one of the best 3d fighters. I played from vanilla VF4 all thru VF5, when it left the states. It's a very demanding, technical game with excellent balance, but it suffers from simply not being that fun. You have to really work while playing because of the fighting system. Throw escapes, stagger recovers, buffering, single-frame inputs; it's all too much to be considered entertaining for the player.
