Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review - Emergency Ejection | The Verge

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor's potential is sabotaged in the worst way possible by controls that just don't make the cut. (Kinect, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, Xbox 360) 1/10

Ouch, not going to lie. I like Kinect but when I played the demo it was bothersome. I don't know if this game is really a one but I'll still most likely rent it to check it out.

Yea you have to actually play as if your in a VT for example while most people playing might just put there hand out and expect it to work it wont just do it like that. Once you get used to it and actually understand all of the mechanics its really good. I cant really trust bad reviews on kinect games because the experiences that players get differs on how much the player knows on how the game works and how he plays. Like with sonic free riders and now where reviews are sometimes 7/10 or just straight 1/10

Its a new control scheme. the first time I played madden using a analog tick to run instead of the dpad it was "bothersome".

I am a kinect capable gamer. Controls in kinect games come as natural to me as grabbing a standard controller. My suggestion is really learn the controls, get comfortable with them it may take you some time if you are not a fast learner but it works. Once you got it the games become really good.

1????

Thank Kinect

Without a doubt. The original controller was one of the most awesome things gaming has ever produced, and then they turn it into Kinect garbage.

Wow. I had high hopes for this game. I love mech games and the idea of being able to use Kinect was great, if it worked as advertised. I wish they'd just released it with the big ol' 40 button controller again. Oh well.

once you get used to the controls and understand that flailing your arm over a certain mechanism wont activate it the controls are actually really good. Try the demo and take your time.

@Shadonic

I'll get the demo and give it a go.

This is why Kinect cannot do hardcore games. You bring a controller into the mix and it just doesnt work.
Shadonic  +   365d ago
it can still do it it just all depends upon the design of the game in general and the controls.

I really hope MS admit defeat with hard core kinect games and just give up trying to force this down our throats.

By all means keep pumping out dance and sports games as they sell, but please give up on the so called 'hardcore' so we can concentrate on enjoying games with a controller.
