It is obviously a nightmare for any developer. A successful series of increasingly successful show, while the competitor takes over your position.

Nope he's spot on.. Fifa has been coming out a lot longer than pes games or even football games from Konami. Sure the current fifa games are capitalizing on the success PES created but the pro evo series was successful thanks mainly to the original success of games like fifa and sensible soccer.
The first EA FIFA game was released in 1993. The first football game by Konami (at the time it was called International Superstar Soccer, and latter became Pro Evolution Soccer) was released in 1994. That's not a lot longer.
actually i feel PES is a better game. The only downside i see about PES is team licenses. FIFA has been doing good but something about it that i feel it dont bring the realism that PES gives. The way i see it is FIFA(arcade) PES(realistic)
Am I missing something?? In what way is PES more realistic than fifa? Do you mean the fake kits & licenses or the arcadey physics which has plagued the PES series since the start of this console generation??
@alien626 I ask you the same question. In what way is PES more realistic than Fifa? Did you really played Fifa 12 and PES 12? Even Konami admitted PES needs to be more realistic lol... PES is actually an arcade game now and Fifa is the realistic experience.

Fifa brought things like Be a Pro, Be a Goalkeeper, more realistic carreer mode, more realistic colisions, more realistic defender gameplay (which Konami is trying to copy just like all the other modes), more realistic passing and dribbling skills (which Konami is also trying to copy in PES 13), everything is more realistic in Fifa 12, even the online is much better (10 divisions and international online cups) . Did you really played this game?
