Rumor: Call of Duty’s Next Two Maps Could be Modern Warfare 2 Throwbacks
According to this video, the map names "Shipbreaker" and "Terminal" briefly appeared in the map selection list of Modern Warfare 3's private match menu, apparently tipping off the names of two maps to come in the game's next DLC drop this month.
(Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
Still not gonna re-buy MW2. So disapointed in that game but what do you expect from something that almost look's exactly like MW2. Anyway that's cool that they might bring back some old maps.
Name me one company that would sacrifice billions of dollars for basically no reason. In any case, if they released all the new stuff as DLC then people would rightly complain about splitting the community to ludicrous levels. Can you imagine if they had to have different playlists for people with a mix of the weapons, maps, kill streaks, etc from each of the three games. That would be 100's of potential combinations which require people to be separated from each other for balance reasons.
In any case, people who think new Call of Duty's should be DLC need to realise that almost every franchise could fall into that category under the same logic. For example, how is Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3 more different than Modern Warfare 2 to MW3, or Killzone 2 to Killzone 3, or Gran Turismo 3 to GT4, or Forza 4 to Forza 4 etc etc.
In what world is a new campaign, many new Spec Ops coop missions, new MP modes, 14 or so new MP maps, new weapons, new kill streaks etc considered only worthy of DLC? Only on N4G and in the minds of 'hater' band-wagoners, that's where...
As much as I dont really like the CoD games, all of these 'same game as last year' and 'Activision dont care about the customers' comments are ridiculous.
There is a ton of new content added each year, and the company supports the games very well. DLC, Updates, etc. Plus, if you actually go and compare the titles, there are significant graphical improvements. The CoD games are some of the best looking shooters released each year. Get over yourselves, and off the CoD-hating bandwagon.
Im ashamed to be part of an industry where almost everyone thinks they're entitled to more than they pay for, thinks they know how to run companies or make games better than developers and publishers and that its more commonplace to hate a company than it is to respect and appreciate the (sometimes hundreds of) hours of entertainment and enjoyment they give you.
Title is slightly misleading for this article. Shipbreaker wasn't in MW2 and from the video looks to be new. But Terminal definitely was in MW2. I hope these aren't part of Elite as it will mean once again we've screwed.
As someone who's become fed-up with the Call of Duty franchise (was a huge fan and avid player online through Black Ops), My first reaction is to drop a troll comment about how rediculous it is that they're rehashing maps from former games and selling them as DLC/Elite content..
BUT.. I would welcome with open arms some old Bad Company 2 Maps for Battlefield 3. I would also pay for them if they were DLC as well.. So I guess I'd be a hypocrite for thinking this is a cheap move on Acti's part.
I'm alright with companies selling me old maps as long as it's pretty cheap. Ten dollars or under. Most of the time they're maps I've played a million times before, so I really don't want to "double pay" for them.
