Take-Two’s Zelnick believes in ‘great’ IP, and next-gen, not so much Wii U

GameTD: Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has never been one to shy away from bold statements. Last year Zelnick addressed game quality saying, “Making good games just isn’t good enough. I believe good is the new bad. Games need to be great.” Now the CEO has again addressed the subject, and has a few words about the next round of consoles. (PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

I cant wait for wii U it looks superior to the 360 and ps3 running half ported games with ease and its getting the big game titles, also we havent properly seen what the beast can do.
Cant wait to get my hands on it

Any developers or consumers who've been clamoring for next gen console hardware will be sceptical of WiiU, because it looks to be only slightly better than currrent console hardware. We'll see I guess but for me, the launch of PS4 is when I'll be getting a new console because Sony brings the games I want to play. New hardware is icing on the cake made of games. EDIT - Obviously Nintendo has many exclusives that have done very well, but they aren't my kind of games.

You know I wonder if Capcom thought the same thing back on GC when they re-introduced Resident Evil. The series had never been on a Nintendo system up until that point, but the games sell very well now regardless of what kind of games these executives think Nintendo fans buy. The reason why 3rd party titles weren't selling, because Nintendo systems were always getting some crappy version of a popular franchise or a no name title all together that was barely amusing or interesting... And all of the people thinking that PS4 & 720 are gonna recreate Avatar like graphics are delusional at best. We are seeing now what those systems might be capable of and they are called high-end PC's people!

He knows nintendos market better than any of us.. Wii U will get great games but he knows that technology is moving forward & that developers will mostly want to use nx gen tech.. However by the time they release a new great game on nx gen, Wii U will have a good selection of them.. Wii U may not have the power to compete but by the time games come around that actually "BLOW them out the water" graphically, nintendo will be preparing for another system.. Sony does 10 yr cycles & nintendo usually does 5..

Well if he knows the market better or not is a cop-out really! Because mature titles do sell on Nintendo systems, just not crappy underrated ports. I can bet AC3 will do amazing numbers and so will Aliens CM when that game is released. PS3 has been Sony's longest transition to a new console, but I wouldn't go out on a limb and say things like they are on 10yr cycles now. That would mean that PS4 isn't due to be released until 2016, which we know is BS! The only reason that this cycle has been so long is because both Sony and Microsoft lost tons of money trying to make future proof consoles upon release. Which is a stupid idea because that's an ever changing market that never sits still for a minute!

I know sony releases the new systems around 7 years in but they still make games for the older ones.. Just because PS4 comes out, doesnt mean they stop making games for PS3.. Sony is threatened by wii u because it will take away potential sales of the PS3 during PS4s lifecycle.. Theyre still selling PSPs while vita is here & they even sell PS2s in other regions.. PS4 will have great games but by the time devs master how to utilize its full potential, nintendo will be planning another launch

I don't know what Nintendo did to 3rd parties but Wii U have very little 3rd party support.

PS4 would sell loads if they killed off the PS3 but...

I think Sony won’t sell much PS4's at the same time as PS3. I just don’t think it will work out financially for them. The average person won’t see much difference in the graphics department & the average consumer will see the PS3 as much better value than the PS4 if Sony continues to sell them both at the same time. Most likely, the PS3 will get a price drop too. In order for the PS4 to sell well alongside the PS3, it must have something innovative & revolutionary that CANNOT be done on the PS3 in order to attract the average consumer & convince them to spend the extra cash and purchase the PS4 instead of the PS3. Well...i guess we'll see...Just my thoughts.

That is why Sony isn't launching PS4 until there is a visual difference. PlayStation figure heads have been on record multiple times stating this.
