Loud Mouthed Gamers: "Given the fact that everyone is expecting the next generation of consoles to release next year, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Official Xbox Magazine (August 2012) is reporting that there will be no dashboard update this year."
Wonder what the competition is thinking? That is just normal state of affairs and welcome to our world of no updates!
Used to i could go to the games demo section in two presses of a button. Now i have to travel through 3 or 4 tabs and go through a time warp and hell and back to find the demo page.
And don't even get me started on having to use Zune to watch a video when you used to could just download it and press play.
Keep your updates they suck.
I'm cool with it either way, the fact that they've updated and changed and added things shows that they care about growing the service and that they care about their consumers. I'm cool with that.

There are probably a ton of apps that I'm not listing, but these are the ones I pretty much use on a daily basis, along with Netflix and sometimes Crackle.
Xbox Live is more socially set up, its the Facebook of online applications, that being said, I don't think I want an updated dash every year. We know we are getting some sort of an update, because we are getting Internet Explorer and other features that were mentioned at E3.
I don't hate PSN, I use it from time to time, but as far as online and especially online third party games, I play those exclusively on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live.
Just a preference.
Hope all of that answered your question.
its not a full redesign, but they were never going to do a full redesign every single year. its just expanded on the original metro dashboard.
heres the current one:

note how its only got 2 rows of tiles.
heres the updated one shown at E3:

note how its got 3 rows of tiles. it also has a "TV" tab along the top menu now.
im amazed at how many things like this people missed from E3 to be honest. another example is when they showed bing search by genre, up the top right of the dash you could see 'web results' as a results category - as soon as i saw that i was like "well theres internet explorer confirmed", yet none of the live blogging sites caught it or even mentioned IE until they announced it a fair while later on in the conference.
The current dash already has that.
