PushStartSelect: "If you have been a fan of PushStartSelect since the beginning, you would realize I love pointing out when bigger websites fail at covering video game related things. The latest in this trend? Cnet stating that “you should never pre-order a game,” ever….Why? Well the only people benefiting off it are the publishers and retailers and you have nothing to gain, supposedly. Well lets talk about this. I honestly couldn’t believe the title when I read it off my news feed, and then I saw the Cnet name. The same name that has been stating consoles are doomed for a while now. However I still gave it a read, perhaps it had something to say in a new light, but instead it just proved that absolutely no research or effort was put into the article. Thus making me wonder how it not only got on a major website, but featured on several feeds (Google was mine)."
Bonus weapons/Pre order only weapons
-usually you can find an in game weapon that can out do the pre-order weapon
Head-start
-So what if you get a 3 day head-start there will always being someone who will out do you.
I don't think "you should never pre-order a game". Some games are worth pre-ordering but others not some much. If wait a while you might see that game you want for a cheaper price. If money isn't a problem for you then pre-order away.
HOWEVER, there are situations like the ones with Far Cry 3. If ur a gamers unlocked member at Bestbuy, u gt $20 credit if u preorder(which I will be using to get AC3 on Black Friday). You also get two extra missions that will probably be released later as paid DLC.
In this case, the value you get from preordering balances out the discount that may come in one or two months.
Dark souls, uncharted 3, skyrim.
Everything else I just waited til it got a little cheaper. And I didn't wait long, either.
With the exception of niche genres.
I buy games at full retail price to support developers.
This is just me.
