Elgato Game Capture HD Review - pirat3gaming

I've been using the Elgato Game Capture HD for about 3 weeks now and I have to admit that it's the best capture card I've used in a long time. First positive thing I have to say about this device is it offers USB 2.0 with HDMI input. This was the one thing that the HD PVR was missing out on. You can capture with the option to preserve source settings up to 30 Mbps. Quality is never lost when you can capture everything that is being pushed through the device to your television with zero lag. (PS3, Tech, Wii, Xbox 360) 5/5

The fact that this offers HDMI input is a huge plus to me as everything I use has HDMI now. The added bonus of USB charging so no additional power cable is great.

I would like to know if you can keep playing without being hooked up to the computer, so the hassle of changing cables is eliminated when you just want to play and not bother recording.

I'll have to keep an eye on this, but the $200 pricetag is a little too much for me right now.

You can just plug the usb cable in your PS3 or XBOX to keep playing without it being hooked into a PC :)
