Do you think Sega would finally throw us PS3 VF5 owners bone? No and probably not ever, according to Sega's Jay Boor. He told PS3 Fanboy, "at this time SEGA has no plans to release a patch for the PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5."
Anyone still cares about this crappy game?
EDIT: It's not about reviews, it's about Sales. I don't think Virutal Fighter sold well enough for Sega to concern itself with it. It didn't exactly top the charts for 360 either.
All of a sudden, this is considered crappy? - http://www.gamerankings.com...
It's a year old now, and if it isn't crappy, it sure as hell is old.
Metacritic scores don't determine whether a game is good or not; it's all a matter of personal prefrence. Not what a bunch of journos say.
If you want to buy a year old PS3 port, then so be it. But I would rather get some new games this year.
Waste it's time? VF5 may have been released awhile ago, but it is still the best next gen fighter out there.
Almost had it, if you'd had just finished your comment with "PS3" instead of the game itself.
Tekken:DR kills VF5! i traded VF5 in months ago.
Tekken has more characters, backgrounds and game modes + online.
and the load times for VF5 were too long, Tekken flys
no one cares about this game because sega made it.
I won't pretend to speak for everyone but everyone i know who owns a ps3 chose tekken dark resurrection over VF. Honestly they can keep the online and there is no love lost. I was never a fan of VF so i really could care less. Tekken and soul calibur are a couple of months away lets see how long they can hold their crown of best fighter available. Only reason they are the best is cus there is nothing to compare them to. I bet DOA is better than VF but i never played it though.
haha also at power of green (my favourite xbot) despite 360 "massive" lead over ps3, ps3 virtua fighter still outsold it... so your saying ps3 VF didnt sell well is stupid... but again thats why you are my favourite xbot.
Why would sega patch the PS3 when VF5 is only hot in Japan and they don't care about online. Why do it for the 20 people that are going to be online everyday? They're working dead rising and lost planet for both the 360 and PS3.
not only PS3 american gamers online, but our japanese friends as well. It would have been great.
it would have been nice 10 months ago.... VF5 is played out
did anyone on the 360 even buy this game?
Not really. It only sold about 120,000 copies on the 360. I don't know. Fighters have always been one of my favorite genres, but I've never really liked Virtua Fighter. At least not since Tekken and Soul Blade on the PlayStation.
My personal preference is that Soul Calibur is where it's at. I'm really looking forward to Soul Calibur 4.
I don't think anyone would expect a patch.
screw Virtua fighter 5 its all about tekken 6 and soul calibur 4
soul calibur is by far the master of fighting games but to me virtual fighter is a button masher. tekken is better than vf and i hate that mortal kombat is a rip off of virtual fighter.. the new gen mk sucks Soul calibur is amazing gameplay its not simple like the others thats still out its got way more of a flow. 3 was the best
Virtua Fighter 5 is thee best tactical fighter around. Soul Calibur comes in at a close second. Every other fighter is pretty much a button masher. 360 owners were definitely blessed with the included online version. I love the ongoing online tournaments. The competition is pretty tough and I always thought I was pretty good but I still haven't won one of the top online tournaments. Those damn asians are pretty good!
Oh well, sucks for you ps3 guys. But I guess your used to getting the shaft.
If Sega wants to keep burning Sony and their customers than that's their business. Sega is nearly irrelevant anyway.
Sega isn't as awesome as they once were, but I don't think that irrelevant is the right word. For a company with so many awesome franchises they sure haven't been doing with them what they could be. I'm still trying to figure out what happened with that last Sonic title.
460,000 people that actually bothered with this.
Most of the "exclusive" titles Sony was flaunting as "only possible with the power of Cell/PS3" back in 2005...ended up being on 360 as well, and better than the PS3 version. VF5, DMC4, FNR3, Assassin's Creed...they all ended up biting Sony in the rear. :D
Watched Xplay yesterday and they had a BurnOut Paradise segment and the rep for BOP was so busy marketing the PS3 dude was fucing up his pre scripted speech. Morgan had to cut him off.
I don't know if the devs are worried about sales on PS3 or if Sony has something to do with the odd marketing or maybe even having to live up to the claims they were talking about but I think BOP is slightly over hyped.
He wasn't even going to mention it was a multi platform game untill Morgen stopped him.
that was funny, if anyone wants to see it here's the clip
what are u talking about?? he is in no way marketing the ps3.... he gets cut off after mentioning the achievement points
STREET FIGHTER 3: 3RD STRIKE the BEST
but yeah vf5 is good
Love the game, however played it to death now and don't really care about it tbh. If this patch came earlier i wouldn't mind, but now Tekken 6 is getting closer
VF5 is a great and the best next-gen fighting so far but with the upcoming Street Fighter 4 as well as Soul Calibur 4, there will be no need to go back to it.
And you can keep your damn Dreamcast too!!!
*Edit* Guess the sarcasm fell flat on it's face.
Not sure why they wouldn't have a patch for the PS3 since that were the sells were http://vgchartz.com/games/i...
but It doesn't matter I got the game but I just can't get into it as a single player experiance unlike Doa,tekke, or soul caliber any other good fighting game it doesn't have a story mode and on top of that whats the point of these arcade recorded fighters? Sega know they should have had online from the gikko but sega its not what they used to be >_>
No financial incentives to work on the PS3 version... unless of course sega wants to release Sonic "the cartoon" on blu-ray.
A patch for a one year old game that no one plays anymore?no thanks
I'm waiting on Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur 4 and others for the PS3:)
I would have bought this game if they did patch it for PS3, because online play or lack thereof was the only reason I don't have it. Guess I won't afterall, Tekken 5:DR satiates me and when SFIV comes out all will be forgotten anyway.
Geez...........maybe if Sony would have concentrated more on gaming
along with their online PSN.........and not a force fed movie format,
stories like this would not exist right now.
Why would they care the only people who bought it were Xbox owners. I bet if this game were a Blu-Ray movie named Virtua Figher 5 PS3 fans would buy it like crack. The devs are realy starting to take notice of the whole "PS3 owners never buy games" thing because they are starting to drop support and dropping games all together like Fronlines.
This game only sold 120,000 on your precious Xbox 360. But I can't help but laugh at "I bet if this game were a Blu-Ray movie named Virtua Figher 5 PS3 fans would buy it like crack.". Very funny.
Now I didn't say it sold well on the 360, just better. In most cases it would be like "millions" more but thats why I didn't go rubbing it to hard, I know the numbers too LOL :) But I'm glad you have that sense of humer, so bubbles for you because you can take a joke no matter how mean it is.
Sony had a stellar Christmas that came close to doubling their install base for the PS3. These new PS3 owners are buying games, even games that came out over the past year. While some of you may have played it already, many have not. Any support that Sony gets benefits them and their customers. Instead of telling another dev to shove it, maybe you should be asking for support so others might benefit.
I would have bought the 360 version had I known (then again, I wouldn't have anyway... I hate system failures).
Anyway, SCREW YOU SEGA, you need to take a Customer Service 101 class urgently. Hell, while they are at it, a marketing class too: How to make a good game, and how not to ruin your mascot's franchises.
SEGA, your last two good games were Condemned (which wasn't killer anyway) and Virtua Fighter 5, which though is good, it's also not a killer. I'm gonna stop buying SEGA games until they actually issue a patch for PS3 with online play and whatnot.
If SEGA actually manages to make a good game (like they will), I will buy it as used, effectively screwing SEGA's bottomline (but SEGA won't make a good game anyway).
Does anyone have Jay Boor's e-mail to send him hate-mail? Thanks.
BTW, check the sales of these games. VF5 is not doing well on 360 despite online play and more aliasing, which proves how Xbots didn't really care about this game, just wanted "brag rights" of getting it ported. The PS3 version outsold the 360 version on a 4:1 basis, despite the fact that the 360 has twice the install base, it has achievements, is on a cheaper console, and is supposedly better. Yet SEGA issues patches and corrects it to make it better? If that isn't on the level of spitting on our faces, then I don't know what is.
PS3 fans, let's remind SEGA of the Dreamcast days and not buy any more of the crap they produce. Mario and Sonic? That would have been awesome in the Genesis vs. SNES days, but today that's just a lame excuse to make money.
Hey Corky, Jay Boor is a PR rep for Sega. He's not a decision maker. You're dumba$$ doesn't deserve to send him email anyways.
VF5 is the best 3D fighter to date. The only thing that will come close is Soul Calibur 4. Tekken is good but it has way too much juggling to be respected as a tactical fighter.
Like the true dipsh1ts they are, and more proof that Xbots are retarded.. VF5 sold 460,000 units on PS3, and only 120,000 on 360. I guess you just wanted brag rights. Run and tell all the tard band to buy it in order to 1up the PS3 sales!
sould caliber's fighting engine is for begginers.
Soul Caliber aint even allowed in the EVO tournaments held in Cali.... why because it's more of a button masher.
It was only when it was released for dreamcast was it ever good because they timed each characters attacks according to their hit recovery. People enjoying SC2-3 are plain no brainers.
Fighters dont get old...
they get mastered and brought yo true performance with tournaments and unforgetful matches.
The 360 version of this game is the real deal.
Street Fighter 2 turbo is one of the oldest fighters... but still the best. which means it's longevity doesnt wear out.
If I'm not mistaken, didn't the PS3 version sell over 450k copies? So 120k is selling better than 450k? Ok. ..
ofcourse it better.. in terms of sales.
but comparing VF5 ..PS3 and 360 version...in terms of gameplay.. and worth that 60 bucks..
Yeah with those updates I would have bought the 360 version but I'm not renewing my Gold subscription anytime soon.
The picture made me lol!
Because it's really them.
..but it's still no excuse for Sega not to add online play via patch to the PS3 owners they lied to. They said online wasn't going to happen for either version, but in reality they didn't want to add online to the PS3 version because they wanted it on store shelves during the launch window. Just goes to show you can't always trust what the publishers claim.
How much did it cost to make? Just because a game isn't selling millions does that mean it flopped. It all depends on how much the game cost to make. VF5 sold overall close to 600K, so it doesn't seem too bad. I read somewhere that for next gen systems sales need to be at least 500K to break even or make a profit..
its a pretty smart move by sega if you ask me. they kinda knew this game wouldnt sell like hot cakes so why spend the money to set up servers for a game thats not really gonna sell large anyway. by going with the 360 version with online they dont need to worry about the cost of setting up an maintaining servers because MS handles all of that themselves with XBL. so if you wanna blame anyone blame sony an not sega. did VT 3 have online for the PS3!!NOPE, it did for the 360, what about tony hawk PS,there was online play for the 360, so i guess that activision's fault that tony hawk didnt have online for the PS3 also. you guys dont wanna put the blame on who should have the blame an thats SONY!! they need to help the developers out a little more!! MS has easier to work with dev tools, cheaper dev kits, an better developer support an they incur the cost of running the online, so what incentives do developers really have with dealing with sony!!
they incur the cost of running the online
really then why do people buy monthly live cards at my store
I didn't know live was free.
They might be working on Virtua Fighter 6.
on Virtua Fighter 6 for PS3.
I dont know where i read this but there was many rumors about that
That's what you get when you buy a cheap BlURay player that can do some games on top.
Not the best gaming experience. That's clear
dude .. you really don't know what you are talking about.
the 360 is a FPS gaming system - nothing more.
sorry, but the games for the ps3 are so much better and the hardware sales show that
Back your comments up with something credible. The game library for the 360 is very good and diverse. Just because it has more games than the PS3, doesn't mean it's bad. The library for the PS3 is getting better everyday, but to say the 360 is an fps console only is hardly accurate.
Playstation has a much bigger brand behind it, owning 60-70% of the market the last 2 generations. Sales today owe alot to brand loyalty. The price is generally perceived as higher and it has less games and also an online experience that isn't that great. If it weren't for customer loyalty and brand recognition, the PS3 would be in much worse place regarding current market share.
CRAP ON 360 BECAUSE THERE IS FAR MORE BETTER GAMES OUT ON 360. WHY BOTHER WITH THAT WENE U CAN PICK FROM A WHOLE LIBARY OF AAA GAMES.I WOULD GLADELY PICK MASS EFFECT OR SOUL CALIBER OVER THIS GAME.
EVEN THE DEFENCE FORCE WOULD AGREE WITH ME FOR ONCE
ok i will lol
I dont know about NA but in Europe it came out like 6 months after the PS3 version , the buzz was down so thats maybewhy it flopped.Same for UT3 I dont think it will be a huge succes on 360 , I mean after 6 months on the PS3 it just wont look that appealing.
Devs should never give a timed exclusive to the PS3 cuz theres more chances that it will flop.It should be the other way round
I was never big on this game anyway.
