Long Live the Shooter, the Shooter is Dead [Feedback Loop]

E3 showed us that, for this year at least, the shooter remains the same. But how long can the genre's dominance last? What'll happen when the fall begins? What comes next?

Let's take a look at the precedent set by TV and the games of the past to try and predict the future of the shooter and what type of games will populate the post-shooter world. (BioShock, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dev, E3, Half Life 3, Industry, Next-Gen, PC, PS3, République, The Stanley Parable, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Isn't it said the other way around? "The Shooter is Dead. Long Live the Shooter."

The shooter isn't dead, it just smells that way because it's sitting there in dirty underwear, refusing to change.
