Is This Sony's Best Playstation Advert Ever?

Ironic that this appears just after the PSN falls down (or the Store, at least) but it’s a brilliant two and a half minutes of gaming, entertainment and reasons to buy into PlayStation.

And it’s about time they pointed out that online gaming is free over PSN.

Whats funny is that everyone is so excited about xbox music yet music unlimited and sony's offerings are far better. Also this ad = epic. Why can't sony show this on tv???

It's not a bad video, but this is kind of like what Sony shows at the beginning of EVERY E3 conference they have. It's just a montage of all the stuff you can get on PS3 and Vita, we see it every year at E3. Nothing particularly special, but not bad either, just kind of...for the uninformed people out there that don't know what they are getting immediately after they buy a PS3.

Sony shows their advertisements on the web. How many people watch Youtube? Hundreds of thousands if not millions.What Sony does is advertise on the web which is a legitimate way to show your product.

Why simply put it on television where only some people might see it on a particular channel or miss seeing it when you can put it somewhere where people can conveniently see it whenever they want? Millions of people are connected to then internet through several devices. Why concentrate on TV when you have millions of people with computers, tablets, handhelds and phones.

When they showed the Micheal commercial 11 million plus people saw it on Youtube and that doesn't even account for the people who saw it on other sites So before you simply say. Why can't Sony show this on TV?' remember how many people on the web probably have seen this commercial already.

IMO Zune kicks arse. Music Unlimted has horrible browsing, horrible match making, and half the amount of songs as Zune. And when I got the free trial on M.U. I got 30 days of listening to the first 10 seconds of a song...lame.

of course sony will have the larger music library available, they own the second largest music company in the world.

whats ironic though, is that microsoft will have to pay sony licensing fees for much of the music they put up. sony will likely always have the most content available out of all the platforms because they create much more content than any of their competitors.

Pretty long and very boring or unentertaining. Just a bunch of music with words in the background. I expected a lot more when they say best ever. I thought Michael was a good ad but very under utilized and not promoted well. Company's can live and die by there advertisements and sony is lacking and toiling in the unimaginative pit of fail.

Not so much a lack of advertising, there is plenty of advertising on tv and on the web.They need to advertise correctly.

What they need to do, is use their other assets properly and combine them with good adds like this one.

For all the freakin movies Sony pumps out every year, why can't they put an add like this during the 20 minutes of previews at one of their movies.Or inside the label of the next Sony recording artist CD or built in PS3-showcase demos in their Laptops etc.

I dunno..just seems odd to me.Whoever is in charge of Playstation marketing should seriously step his game up.So many different demographics to reach, So much wasted potential.

The "Michael" add was good, but it just got too corny at the point when Ezio said his part. Wish the "Omaha Beach" part had been longer and the rest of the characters cut out.

I remember the badass TV commercials Sony used to show like Universe of Entertainment with the song, "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva playing in the background. Those were just awesome, and I hope Sony goes back to them one day.

No it's not. Premium is $10/month, basic is $4/month. You must use a card to pay as well. I used to have the premium sub and it was awesome for the Vita.

I think "Michael" was Sony's best PlayStation advertisement ever. I'd go as far as to say it's the best video game commercial of all time.

It went personal in a way no commercials ever do in the industry (especially in the casual-centric generation we're in now) by speaking metaphorically to the gamer. Our favorite characters thanking us? How can anything be better?? haha

That "Michael" advert is easily the coolest I have seen, but it highlights the problems with Sony's strategy because I have never seen that before it was mentioned in this thread.

I have not seen that used anywhere in the UK and it was so awesome, made me want to play all my PS3 games at the same time :)

I saw the advert before when it was first released, but on youtube. I think it's a US only advert or something, because I didn't see it on TV in the UK as well.
All the game adverts I see on TV always end up being Xbox 360 ones; really pisses me off to be honest, especially when my dad says to me after watching the adverts "Why don't you get a 360; you get facebook, iplayer, etc". Sony should really advertise EVERYTHING significant they provide on their platform.

Yup, the Michael advert was new to me and loads of my work mates who I just shared it with - it blew everyone away.

I cannot fault Sony on the quality of there ads, its just the lack of airtime the ads get that I don't understand.

Anyway, just going to watch Michael ad once more before bedtime :)

Is that it, i'm glad i don't play console games anymore why?
I bought the xbox360 on launch day played it for five and half years same for the ps3 bought it on launch day and did the same.
Theres nothing that has changed theres only a hand full of sequels out from sep to march and guess what yeah there all the same.
So i just play pc games now no arguments no gamers sending you messages no arguing on the mic brilliant.
I can't wait though for the xbox/720 and the ps4 we need new hardware honestly theres a huge difference in graphics on the gaming rig.
