DICE discusses Battlefield 3 Dino Mode, with more attention it could be developed
Until now, this huge request by fans have been ignored by DICE and has never been spoken about publicly. But, today the Battlefield 3 community manager has commented on what fans would want from an addition such as this.
(Battlefield 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
@Deadpoole, really you never liked playing as a Zombie in L4D? I find that amazing because I'm someone that never liked playing the campaign mode at all. Versus mode was so much fun if you got together with friends and played, but more importantly, it was fun even with just random people. Trying to play campaign mode on harder difficulties was near impossible because everyone sucks at the game.
As a side note, I do think playing as dinosaurs would be lame.
I sometimes want to see a giant robot in BF3 multiplayer (tank sometimes isnt enough).. when you get pissed off by someone shooting you with sniper rifle 3 times in a row.. I just want to grab that robot and beat the sh** out of him :) removing roof and making head shot with giant robot arm red laser beam blaster power gun .. ptishhhhhhh!
basically i want a system similar, but better, than Nazi Zombies. 4P co-op (or more if possible) versus Raptors. Instead of buying weapons off walls you just keep playing to unlock them like in the MP (a separate exp level for this mode?). As more of the map gets unlocked, vehicles can be bought in order to take out larger dinosaurs such as a T-Rex or aerial fights with Pterodactyls.
I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY AS A DINOSAUR, just want to shoot them in every way possible.
Sorry but this would be stupid... it would be funny for thirty minutes then I'd never play it again. rather they just release mod tools, then some shut in can bring us wonderful useless dino mode.
It should be similar to Turok. Have the same battles but place the Dinosaurs in the middle of all the carnage. Harder to snipe when you have a set of raptors hunting the area. Better get in a safer area! And running from cover to cover or even to different flags would take on a new meaning. Maybe vehicles might be the safer way to transport people to a fight now... ? (like it should be)
Add some similar tactics as they did in Turok multiplayer... were you can use blood bags to attract Dinos to an area. Even toss the bag onto an enemy or as a special claymore type that will mark the enemy for Dinos to prey on them.
Tanks having to fend off T-Rex attacks and taking damage from them. Triceratops thinking vehicles are encroaching in their territories and fighting back.
Even have Dinos fighting Dinos similar to Tresspass... with Dinos having an AI system that would allow them to react to situations around them. Buzz a Dino with a Heli or Jet and watch it turn away from it's attack for a moment to see what just entered it's territory.
Many things could be done... the question is what will they do and how will they make it so it isn't just another Horde mode gametype? Make it playable within the same realm as what we have now for multiplayer.
Dont do it, if you start you will never quit, not because its addictive (in a way it is), but because you will realize how actually stupid and fun world actually is, and you will want it to continue. :) meanwhile asking questions about dinosaurs on the internet and wanting them to be added in BF3 series!
I dont get it. Dinosaurs are cool and all but does people really want to see them in BF3? Why? It would be interesting i agree but surely it would be better to have them spend their time working on the game itself, fixing little bugs, solving gameplay problems and maybe bringing us a Battlecorder of some sort?
I agree completely. I dont get the dinosaur hype at all - To me, DICE has created one of the best tactical online shooters this gen. Id rather an expansion/DLC along the lines of B2K or Close Quarters, where the focus is on what Battlefield does best: tactical team-based warfare.
When it comes to Horde/survival mode gametypes, I'd rather that be kept in the CoD Zombies and Gears of War realm.
Tactical? It's not as arcade as COD, but it's not tactical at all... You need too many shots to kill, there's respawn, possibly unlimited ammo supply, auto-heal (on hardcore you need a medic)... Those are all arcade shooter material.
I'm not criticizing the game, I aclually like BF3 a lot, and it does have some tactical elements (rely heavily on teamplay and most modes are objective based), but it's not a full tactical shooter like Socom, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon or Counter Strike.
In fact, even this franchises (except Counter Strike, gotta wait and see) had more or less moved aways from tactical only gameplay... Which is a shame for me, I love tactical shooters, but they simply aren't that popular anymore.
I know where it all started and stuff guys, but its just that i thought people were kinda joking when they said they wanted a Dino Mode but i realised over the last few months people actually genuinely want a Dino Mode, whatever that entails. Like i said, dinosaurs are cool and all, but why would you want them in a shooter. I like new things, i like when devs try to be different and innovate, it rarely happens this generation. But this would be a bit too ridiculous, i would see it as making little of a great series if they added a Dino Mode. People went mad over "Close Quarters" because it was 'too cod' and unbattlefieldish, yet everyone is ok with a Dino Mode.
Work on the fixing problems the game has and work on improving the aspects that make this a great game, not on a Dino Mode......C'mon!!!.
Would be nice but dont care id still buy it separate if they did it right. So therefore we need to let them know what we want so they do it right the first time.
dumb idea really. id think DICE would be losing the plot if they atually did this. n e ways my 4 year old son would love to watch me play thoe, hes a dino freak
Well its funny how you say "Not many people will pay for DLC more than a year after release" because End game will be releasing in March. This game has had two excellent dlc packs so far and i am looking forward to the next 3 :)
I love to have dino mode, think about it choppers flying over shootin down pterodactyl. Btw i had to google that word. And down below you have tanks shooting down T-Rex and solders running from other types of dino with back legs and a tail with big teeth bad breath.
They will win the shooter market if they do this: The reason I was unable to play BF3 is because I was waiting to upgrade my CPU and mobo to ivy-bridge standard. With this possibly on the way would eat up all my time needed for gaming.
It's own game running on DICES engine with BF3 like characteristics? Sure I will check it out. Battlefield with dinosaurs? Seriously now? Then again COD got zombies so it wouldn't be too surprising.
1. 12 Humans vs hordes and hordes of AI dinosaur from every where (rangin from big Trex to V-Raptors)
2. Survival of last squad (out of four human squads) against Hordes of AI Dinosaur Attack.
3. Last man standin in horde of AI dinosaur Attack.
To be honest playin as a Dinosaur never appealed me just like bein a zombie in Left4Dead series.
Fellas I don't have twitter account pls give DICE these modes idea ... thnx
that would be a great idea :), the only problem is, will the consoles be able to handle it?
As a side note, I do think playing as dinosaurs would be lame.
"What? You mean that little chicken is a velociraptor? Oh look, it can fly! ... GET IT OUT OF MY NECK!!!"
"Look out, Pteranodon... Oh no he got me! And now he can't fly with that much weight... Don't kill it, it's furry and warm in here"
"Look at the T-Rex! It's so... fluff? Let's redo that JP scene, keep the jeep at 20mph..."
I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY AS A DINOSAUR, just want to shoot them in every way possible.
Lets Tweet #BF3Dinos people!!!

What a silly question
you dont smoke them! but the flower itself!

--> Turok + Battlefield = Battlerok!
But in all seriousness, I'd be content with just putting dinosaurs on the multiplayer maps until they came up with an actual game mode involving them.
It would be interesting i agree but surely it would be better to have them spend their time working on the game itself, fixing little bugs, solving gameplay problems and maybe bringing us a Battlecorder of some sort?
It kinda escalated from there.

When they showed a Dino in the BF3 Thunder Run mission, everyone took it as a sign.

Bubbles..
But if they do it as a free dlc? Go right ahead. Not many people will pay for DLC more than a year after release.
True. COD fans would never buy DLC a year after release because they have their $60 expansion packs every year!
And down below you have tanks shooting down T-Rex and solders running from other types of dino with back legs and a tail with big teeth bad breath.
