What it takes for me to play on "Hard"

Here are four reasons why one "Normal"-loving gamer will kick the difficulty up a notch. What are yours? (Alan Wake, Batman: Arkham City, Culture, Max Payne 3 , PS3, Silent Hill: Homecoming, Xbox 360)

Most games are a breeze on normal and normal on hard nowadays. "hard" is a name and doesn't reflect difficulty in most games now.

I play all of my single player games on hard if I can. The only one I had to scale-back on was Killzone 2 when I first got it. If I rented, sure, I'd play normal or 6th-grader mode, but other than that, I'm enjoying the challenge of the game.
