The Last of Us Defines PS3's Limits (Interview) - E3 2012

"When The Last of Us was announced during Spike's 2011 VGAs on December 10th, Naughty Dog's latest project left the industry speechless with outstanding visuals and immersive action sequences. Since its unveiling just six months ago, The Last of Us has continued to stun gamers, especially with its impressive presence during Sony's E3 2012 Press Conference. Displaying amazing visuals combined with incredible combat mechanics led to a standing ovation within the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, where the Press Conference was being held."

Not one word in the entire interview mentions anything about the ps3s limits.

I call trolling for hits.

GribbleGrunger1503d ago

Uncharted 2 was the limit, then Uncharted 3 was the limit and now The Last Of Us is the limit. LOL. the PS3 isn't nearly finished yet. that's what you get when you make sure your console is future proof and has a disk that offers 50GB of storage space (if needed)

hats off to Sony

Chitown712911503d ago

Exactly dude. And i hear they are running the animations off of the blu-ray basically creating virtual memory. Sh*t is genius lol

''that's what you get when you make sure your console is future proof ''

+1

@Chitown71291

Amazing software engineering by ND. Other Devs should take notes.

Chitown712911503d ago

@Virtual: They really should dude lol. Everyone college news to have Naughty Dog course lol

Nimblest-Assassin1503d ago

Never trust the words limit and Naughty Dog in the same sentance

Watch the next game they make look better than the Last of Us, and they say we think we hit the PS3 limit with this one

ND just keeps getting better

Agreed! Even tho this article is false. The PS3's "limits" were supposedly reached when Killzone 2 and 3 came out. And if i remember correctly, the same was said about Uncharted 2 and 3. Hmmmm, this "pushing the PS3's limits" thing is really getting old, especially with every release.

Ugh sorry wrong reply.

DigitalAnalog1503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

Allow me to demonstrate "limits". Imagine having a 100GB HDD filled with porn - now are you going to tell me that's the TRUE limit of HDD? Any smart guy would be able to compress the files therefore putting more porn to reach it's "limits" again.

But does this mean the 2nd attempt is the same as the 1st because they pushed the HDD's "limits"? Then tell me how does "limits" have an abitrary factor on the PS3 or any system for that matter? Enlighten us how, they are unable to optimize their code for better yields. If not, then you are not in a position to criticize whether or not a dev can push "limits" no matter how many times they says it.

Treian1503d ago

will this be better than uncharted? Not saying uncharted is bad.

Skate-AK1503d ago

I think the gameplay experience will be to varied to compare them to the point of which is better.

beyond looks even better than this so how can the last of us define the ps3 limits...

Ducky1503d ago

... because visuals aren't the sole factor in determining a system's limits.

slaton241503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

i am not all about the visuals i was talking about graphics movement story and sure the last of us looks great cant wait to get it but in MY OPINION beyond looks alot better.

and sackboy no im not i no what i saw at E3 sure the last of us may dominate the hell out of beyond but still it looks better to ME...so thank you for the disagrees considering i was saying that with these two games it is still hard to tell what the limits to the ps3 are. Every time we thank thats it the ps3 proves again it still has a lot of bite in it

DeletedAcc1503d ago

Hahaa !! You r blind, sir

Nick2120041503d ago

After checking out The Last of Us behind closed doors, I have yet to see a game impress me to this level. Beyond comes in at a very close second though.

Kinect1503d ago

beyond is a movie not a game so get over it
