Bloomberg:"Sony Corp. (6758) will cut the salaries of Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai and directors after Japan’s biggest exporter of consumer electronics lost 856 billion yen during the past four years."
Good, there gettin paid to much anyway
Most CEOs and executives make too much anyways. It's sickening how they can make hundreds of thousands to millions a year while the other employees make <80K.
They'll be fine.
The losses this year were from the way their accounting department handled various assets. There's no "loss" per se. But still the PS3 and PS Vita should be a doing a lot better than they are right now. Cutting the executives' pay is a good incentive to boost performance.
Hmm, it looks like kazumao1 was indeed right about the N4G bias all along. He got spammed after I posted THIS: http://n4g.com/news/1013172... Let's see how long this lasts...
Sony's gaming division is one of the reasons Sony is still kickin'. Don't be confused with the bad TV sales the haters like to pretend are PS3 losses. Remember that Sony even prints its own discs -- and those expenditures are reported as expenses in SCE, even though they are gains in other divisions. They also don't see the royalty profits from BD drives or discs in SCE, despite the fact that every PS3 made causes a couple $ in royalties to be sent back to a different division, and those same $ to be reported as expenses on SCEs report. Those royalties, just from PS3s and PS3 games, are in the hundreds of millions by now. Sony would be completely screwed without SCE.
I rather would see those Japanese executive who created such a mess within Sony's culture be fired permanently and not get re-hired on another department.
Gaming division equals http://www.gamersdailynews.... Gaming division is one of the shining stars in Sonys otherwise poor choices. Sony gaming division is here to stay so get used to it haters!!!!!
i have no idea why you got disagrees when you posted facts
Because ppl love to hate the ps3 the system tht time and time again caters to their fans and pumps out thee best games in the industry by far. They rather seeva company like tht fail, but promote thngs lije COD elite or companies tht dont prroduce any new ips and love monotony.
Management should keep their bonuses and sack some lower and middle end workers and call it a company restructure. Managers bonuses are more important than thousands of jobs of lower/middle end workers. Managers get higher pay and bonuses regardless of the companies performance and well the losses are shared by cutting the lower end workers and delaying or cancelling projects.
rofl I love how all these prepubescent children here pretend to know anything about economics and business. Sony going bankrupt and dropping out of the console business? You must be a GREAT analyst. Please... tell me how many other companies you predicted actually went down? Idiots.
