OXCGN's E3 2012: ZombiU: Just Another Putrid Face In The Horde? Hands-on Preview

OXCGN:

"While Ubisoft’s major thunder was focused on Splinter Cell: Blacklist and their amazingly annoying Just Dance 4 (the entire convention center knew who had the moves like Jagger), one little Ubisoft title on the Wii U managed to gain a little buzz.

At the very end of our appointment with Ubisoft, OXCGN got hands-on with ZombiU to see what all the fuss was about." (E3, Wii U, ZombiU)

Hmmm when is there going to be a Kinect version I wonder.
gaminoz  +   346d ago
It sounds like it has some really cool new features, but the graphics...why do they suck on a 'next gen' console???
Hooshuwashu  +   346d ago
Because it's nintendo?

*awaits flaming*
Proeliator  +   346d ago
I agree, I think that they could pull a BIT more out of it... aren't they wanting to showcase the wii u's prowess?
Hooshuwashu  +   346d ago
@Proeliator I think it's going to improve honestly, the game is probably pre-alpha at this stage and has tons of room for improvement.

I have to wonder if this wasn't being developed for the regular ol' Wii originally. The game seems further along in development than most Wii U titles (even most 1st party ones), which seems unusual.

It might explain why the graphics look so last-gen. And some of the features for the controller really seem like they're jerry-rigged in.

Just spitballin', but maybe it could be a possible explanation?

Makes sense to me...

This is the only game keeping me interested in the Wii U. I mean i love mario, sure always have who doesnt? But when it comes down to it nintendo is having a hard time appealing to hardcore gamers and Zombi U does that. The only question now is... will a hardcore gamer really pull through with tough screen controls? i dont think so but i still have a slight hope for this title and console.
Hooshuwashu  +   346d ago
I think it meets an even medium - the concept is for the hardcore, but the use of it can appeal to casual and core.
gaminoz  +   346d ago
They tried that with the Wii...didn't get too far.

The Wii U needs more games like this and rely less on Mario and co.

But the games do need to look good to convince anyone this is worth an investment, with PS4 and 720 on the way.
Proeliator  +   346d ago
I think having good gameplay can one-up that.
gaminoz  +   346d ago
While I agree, I think that people will need to firstly try it and it will need to be easy to adapt to for gamers and non-gamers.

The added pad with different uses does make it a bit complicated. Wii was different: point thing at screen and it does stuff (very simple)

I am pretty sure this is a make-over of the "Killer Freaks From Outer Space" game that was announced at E3 2011.

Ubisoft had a big Roundtable to show it off.

The Co-op mode of ZombiU sounds very similar to KFFOS's that was shown on stage.

The Zombies are better for the "Core" because the Killer Freaks just looked like Slimmy Ray Man Rabbits.

PS This sounds like a must buy.
