Nintendo must sell its next generation games console for less than $300 (£190) per unit in order for it to stand a chance at retail, a Wedbush Morgan analyst has claimed.
A pink tie? Sorry, I just hate it, and Patcher never struck me as a "pink is my color" type of guy.
The article is about the price of the Wii U, not a Pink tie.
Apparently the pink tie is more important than whatever the headline says.
No one cares what he has to say about games so that makes the issue of the tie a tad more important.
Pachter's tie is way more relevant and accurate to gaming than anything he says. You know who else could guess that it would be bad to have a game system cost more than $300? MY MOM.
Hey.. hes secure in his manhood thats all. Real men wear pink. lol.
being so dear I wouldn't be shocked at a 400 plus price
grom gonintendo.com This information comes from a long-time reader that has been very trustworthy with information. I don't want to give out there name, as I want to keep them safe. Just believe me when I say that info they've given us in the past has been spot on. - Wii U will be 'about $300) - expect the big push for Wii U to kick off in September - Nintendo Land will 'definitely' be a pack-in - don't expect a digital version since the physical copy will be packed in with each box All sounds very plausible to me. We'll find out what rings true in a few months!
Since Nintendo said they won't be selling it at a loss $300-$400 sounds plausible. I don't expect the system to exceed $400 as that would be foolish. Wii U being priced under $300 is ruled out because Nintendo said they won't sell it at a loss, so $300 or $350 is most likely going to be the price.
If it was $400+, it would flop. I think the Wii U will either be $300 or $350 but anything over $400 won't be a buy.
i'm thinking $350 as well. lower would be a very nice, and welcome, surprise!
Im thinking its going to flop anyway. No one cares about this thing enough. Nintendo went ahead and released something thats on the level of 360 and ps3 hardware wise .. with a fancy controller. The only problem is its 360 and ps3 5 years later lol. Wii may have made it, but this touch screen stuff should have remained with the hand held.
I'm also thinking it'll be around the $300 mark. @Kurylo3d "No one cares about this thing enough." Maybe you don't, but some/most of us do. Nintendo's business is solely in gaming, always has been. For this reason, Microsoft or Sony can take hits or losses in the gaming divisions because they can recuperate it in a different division, such as from the software division on Microsoft's side. This is one of the reasons why Ninty won't sell the Wii U at a loss. Let's just hope it launches at a decent price and honestly (anything >= $400) would be a bit on the expensive side.
I'm thinking of getting a Wii U, just because I'm ready for next generation. However, if it cost more than $300, forget it! There isn't much compelling on Wii U, and Nintendo Network is unproven. The only game remotely interesting is Mass Effect 3, but I already own that on Xbox 360 with Kinect support and save game imports from the first two games. If I wanted upgraded graphics, I can play it on PC. Furthermore, the graphics seems to be marginally better if any. It better be $300 or less, or pop up some really compelling titles and quick!!!
"I'm thinking of getting a Wii U, just because I'm ready for next generation." You mean you're thinking of getting a WiiU because you like buying new things. Next generation has absolutely nothing to do with the WiiU.
Wii U is next generation, regardless of you liking it or not. Wii U falls into what is considered the 8th console generation. Even though it doesn't make huge leaps *yet* in graphics, it certainly does things Xbox 360, PS3 and PC can't do.
Well I am personally expecting it to cost Under 500 bucks, but not lower than $300 bucks. I say about $350-400. Since I heard they will not be selling the system at a loss. I do expect great things out of WiiU. I am ready for next gen and even if WiiU doesn't deliver next-gen graphics. It will deliver a new way to play. It is already showing that it is capable of Unreal Engine 3, and said that CryEngine 3 will be compatible and Epic themselves said Unreal Engine 4 will be on every HD device from an Ipad to a PC. So it will have today's current console graphics or better for the next 5-7 years. I don't see what's wrong with that. Many claim that is enough to enjoy a game anyway.
"it certainly does things Xbox 360, PS3 and PC can't do." Care to elaborate? Or do you mean the same things Nintendo products always legally had over the others (ie; Play Mario)?
Biggest: Isn't it obvious? Wii U is the only one with a tablet based controller out of the box which means developers can reliably assume that everyone has one. Can't say the same for the other platforms. Wii U is also likely to have far more memory than the current consoles. You know, one of the biggest bottlenecks. That is just some of the benefits, since we don't know exact specifications yet.
"That is just some of the benefits, since we don't know exact specifications yet." How can you not see what you did there? Don't tout something as awesome and then say anything NOT awesome isn't fair because we don't know. We know it'll have a tablet controller thing. We know that Mario, Link, and probably Samus will pop up eventually. We know that friend-codes will be there. The system specs are rumor. Period. The tablet controller isn't a benefit as far as we know. But that's because we barely know anything about it. Just face it. You want a WiiU because you want a new toy. There is nothing wrong with that.
I think the price will be $300
He's right for price
i want it to be 700$ so that way i will be able to laugh at poor people who cry about the price because they cant afford a 700$ console... like the ps3.
XD i bet your poor.
no... im rich. I had actually no prob with the 700$ pc. I was probably one of the rare person on the interweb not crying about it.
that's rather chaotic.
***"i want it to be 700$ so that way i will be able to laugh at poor people who cry about the price because they cant afford a 700$ console... like the ps3"*** ***"I was probably one of the rare person on the interweb not crying about it."*** Way to fit the stereotype that rich people are stuck up jerks that enjoy laughing at other people's misfortunes..
No real rich people don't brag about how much money they have and they surely don't call it the interweb. Lol
I love when I read peoples comment about 'afford'. Why on earth would I want to spend 700 dollars on a console? It's not a necessity. Lastly, most of the times, many can afford it, but see no point in a price that high.
I have always thought it would be priced at $299. I think Nintendo realizes their audience and I don't think they've ever had a console over the $299 price point. I'd buy one day one if it were $299, having a pack in game would just be the icing.
Well it's been priced in the UK as £275 so I would guess in the USA it would be around the £250 or even £275 equivalent in $
Well Reggie said that consumers would be shocked over the target pricing for WiiU and $250-$275 is a good somewhat shocking price point. $300 is probably about right where it should be for the device. $250 for the Vita was a shocking announcement so a flat $250 for WiiU would probably make people go crazy instantly
Not going to happen.. I think half the reason they have a 'WiiU pad' is that they think the uninformed will feel they're getting their monies worth! Like Ooooo we get a tablet with it and all for only $450!
$300 is to much! $300 + $21 tax + 60 2x game+ $500+ usd
My guess is $300.
I wish I got paid for saying stupid shit too
This is the same guy who said the 3ds would sell bucketloads at $250. He even said they should have made it MORE expensive. So I'm not sure he is the best source for these kind of predictions...^_^' My thinking is $250 To about $350. If higher than $300, it could spell problems, but probably not as deep as Pachter thinks.
gotta buy an external HDD so wii u will cost more if u plan on downloading anything
