Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance DLC to feature new playable characters and missions
GamerZines writes: "New playable characters and missions are being planning for post-release content for Platinum Games's rebooted Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance."
(E3, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360)
at this point it really shouldnt be a suprise to anyone this will always happen with multiplatform games since this gen started till the day we choose to die
This game has already been through development hell, so there's no excuse for this day 1 DLC crap to be happening. Focus on making the main game.
Getting a game should be structured like being served at a restaurant. You have you appetizer (pre-order content, poster, a art book, dvd etc.) You get the main course (the game) which should be delicious and satisfying. Afterward's you have the option of getting dessert(DLC).
You don't serve a meal with the dessert at the same time. Wait until the costumer finishes the main course. If the main course is terrible, or has bugs in it (gitches) then why would they want to stick around for dessert(DLC)?
I hope this game doesn't even sell a million copies. No seriously, I hope Konami suffers some sort of loss with this one so they'll know that we don't want "lightening bolt action" dipped in MGS title.
What the hell is wrong with devs these days? Capcom killing their SF franchise with all their cross overs and annual editions. Capcom again with their Resident Evil bullshit. Square Enix milking FF and not releasing the ones gamers so eagerly want (Versus), Activision with their annual COD games and oh the list can go on and on...
We need "proper sequels" not junk and we can show the finger to these devs by not supporting these rehashed twisted half baked games with our wallets.
Yep, I know what you mean. But GOTY editions are a completely different story. You can't publish a game under that title unless you get some GOTY awards from some of the famous and credible gaming authorities. What you mean is a complete edition, which is possible.
Hey guys, we've made this awesome game with loads of characters and weapons and stuff......but, what were gonna do is break the FINISHED product up into little pieces so we can rob the SHIT out of you. Then to top it off, well have the audacity to announce EXACTLY what were gonna do to you loyal fans.
This really gets me p*ssed off!! announced DLC BEFORE a game is even released, hell this game isn't even out until 2013 so this content best be on the bloody disc for free!
“However we do have plans for some download content after the release from the game that will allow you to play maybe as a different character or some new missions.”
The games slated for Early 2013, it's not un reasonable for planning to begin on DLC.
Your attempt at being witty was cute and all, but my point makes sense as a response to your quote. Announcing DLC plans for a game that isn't even releasing until next year. It's not a good look. Where's the disconnect for you?
Sure, if they said parts of the game are being pulled out and given an extra coat of polish for a pre release DLC release. Then yeah, you're comment is right on point.
But you people who are complaining are still buying the games bloody hypocrites. If the consumers don`t buy games with this bullcrap it will stop. Of course there are many people who don`t understand the industry, but we can at least try to make a revolution. Spread the word and fight cockroaches.
“However we do have plans for some download content after the release from the game that will allow you to play maybe as a different character or some new missions.”
PLANS, you guys are getting up in arms about PLANS.
Yeah but gaming franchises like those already have the dedicated fan base to allow an announcement like that... For a new IP like this it could kill the sales a bit...
They really need to stop confirming DLC before the game comes out! It just tells me that this could easily be put into the game at launch! What a joke frigging DLC needs to die!
Not me, I prefer when DLC is planned and cohesive, rather than an afterthought that gets shoe-horned in when publishers realize there is an opportunity for more revenue.
The game is garbage and this just makes it even more of a joke. At least MGS4's DLC was free but it also had online play through MGO. Platinum Games will obviously milk people to death with DLC for their mediocre hack & slash cash-in.
DLC? really? I really hate this business practice. All it says to me is we're gonna sell you an incomplete game. Even if that's not the case, why announce it now?
Not gonna lie I was disappointed when they said this too. Honestly it doesn't give me any hope of things changing, if people like P* are doing then I guess it will always be the norm.
Do you guys know why they do this? Developers say that customers/fans usually ask them to add more content as a form of download. I really want to know who those bastards are.
Isn't the game supposed to be out in TWENTY-FUCKING-THIRTEEN? WHY are they talking about DLC so early?! Whatever happened to unlockables? No, current Capcom style "unlockables" don't count.
DLC is a developers way in keep there hands in your wallet.
Its quite laughable/sad that the industry has wound up this way but in no way suprising, at a time where everyone is trying to rip you of. These developers arent our friends people, theyre simply there to make money out of us and maybe make a decent game on the way.
And although something needs to be done, i think they would have some trouble in trying to enforce anything.
For example, you just buy an iPhone, you payed for it upfront or got in on a contract, its pretty much the same thing as apps that cost on the appstore, and if you want them you buy them, if you dont then, you dont give them any money. And as far as im aware (could be wrong), DLC is always added content, not anything you "need" which impacts the story??
DLC is here to stay imo, but a developer shouldnt be as thick to anounce its plans to try to rinse our bank acounts before there game has even hit the shelves.
I wont be getting this game anyway, as impressive as the "slice through anything mechanics" are i could soon see myself beiong bored of that crap about 15 minutes of slashing and hacking anything you see.

... another new game, another announcement that they'll be nickel-and-diming us.
This automatically means I won't be buying it at full-price.
The industry has really stooped to a new low this generation when it comes to GREED.
What happened to developing the best game you possibly can, releasing it, and THEN start thinking about DLC?

i think you get the point sir.
but with so many editions out there i kind of get lost in it lol
'You can't publish a game under that title unless you get some GOTY awards from some of the famous and credible gaming authorities.'
Is that a law? Please provide links backing your assertion.
Then to top it off, well have the audacity to announce EXACTLY what were gonna do to you loyal fans.
NOT COOL!
“However we do have plans for some download content after the release from the game that will allow you to play maybe as a different character or some new missions.”

You're just making a bad assumption.
Saying "I'm not buying the game at full price/day one". Then doing that exactly what you said you would do does NOT make somebody a hypocrite.
I understand what you were attenpting to say though.
By me(us) waiting for price drops we can cut their money in half.
I'm not going to deprive myself of a gaming experience just to prove a point.
The only person I am hurting is myself.
That does NOT make me a "hypocrite" my friend.
Like another user already said and you already know: Every game does this nowadays.
What should we do? Never buy a game again?
No.
So you wait for a price drop and send a message. It's the only productive thing we can do.
*Edited for punctuation*
PLANS, you guys are getting up in arms about PLANS.
Plans is essentially doing. Before the game is even released they are saying, "Pay us more money and you can have a better experience."
Why not include it as unlockable content in game? Or as free dlc later on? It's corporate greed and it's ridiculous.
All those games sold well, so either is a good business practice or people don't care about day 1 DLC
DLC is not the question, the question is 'Does the content included in the game warrant a full price purchase?'
You are not entitled to every idea devs had during a typical development window just because you purchased the game.
