Leviathyn's Tommy Eubanks proposes some ideas for new weapons the Assassin's Creed franchise could implement. What their strengths would be, and how they could enhance the gameplay of an already excellent series of games.
You would think that a game like this where you are on the run from guards and what not quit a bit they would give you Caltrops to throw on the ground behind you.
That's... a really good idea. It would probably be really difficult to program, though, as there'd have to be different animations for both the caltrops being tossed/landing and the people tripping... on every conceivable piece of terrain. It would be a lot of work. But TOTALLY worth it. Generally speaking, though, I think AC has pretty much run the gambit on weapons. At least while maintaining a veneer of realism--just look at how silly some of the weapons were in Revelations. The only "weapon" I feel is missing--and has been missing since the first game--would be some kind of disguise. I get that they want to model the assassin on an eagle... but they may as well have made 'em look like peacocks for as much as they stand out in every-single-crowd. We should totally be able to mix-and-match different clothing pieces and use dye and crap to make our own costumes that would be a camoflage of varying effectiveness depending on what the NPCs/area around us is. So, say, for example you can dress up like a fisherman and when you're at the docks it's harder for guards to notice you, easier to hide, and you can get away with more stuff--but move into a residential area dressed like that and it's the opposite.
You could use caltrops in AC Revelations.
Never played it.
I believe once guns entered this game it lost a bit of the game's concept...I mean, let me explain myself, the ACIII E3 trailer showed Connor fighting a lot of red jackets. Why would they fight connor hand to hand if they all had guns? Just doesn't make sense. All soldiers should shot connor and he would be killed in an instant.
Because those old weapons take like 2 minutes to reload. It would just make more sense for them to engage with their beyonettes.
Come on! 20 soldiers against 1 assassin...someone should hit him. At least one shot. I can believe an assassin could take 20 soldiers in close combat because of training, but 20 gun armed soldiers against a knife armed assassin? He would be killed instantly.
