E3 2012: the year of the lackluster blockbuster

The Electronics Entertainment Expo is no place for the easily distracted, every inch of convention center carpet devoted to capturing the attentions of calloused video game journalists. In spite of the customary flash however, it's hard to come away from this year's festivals without a creeping sense of disappointment, that for all the showmanship, we didn't actually see all that much at E3 2012 -- an in-between year that seemed lackluster even by those standards.

Completely agree. Roll on E3 2013!

But what will we do in the meantime?

Continue to play countless sequels and argue on N4G about how much better my system is than yours, what else?

On a more serious note 2013 could be a killer year. Bioshock, Borderlands 2, Beyond, The Last of Us, GTA V, Watch Dogs, Wii U games, new hardware from Microsoft and Sony perhaps.

Its the boring cinematic experience, that's all we saw. Every game has the same pacing and style, its lame.

Basically. The PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 in a nutshell.

lackluster blockbuster if all you game on is a 360. ps3 has the HEAT locked and loaded! but I am firing up my 360 to play some crysis 2 online, and some vanquish too! then back to ps3 for some more golds in gt academy and gt5! then try some lbp level making!... I love days off!

All Sony had was the last of us, everything else was stale.

He's a Sony fanboy Sony can do no wrong in their eyes.

Sony also had Beyond and a new God Of War shown at E3. Those were the big 3. Microsoft had Halo 4 and a new Gears Of War.

What's really getting tiring here on N4G is the emphasis on such few games to the point we need to act like jack-asses. Do these few titles really grant this type of behaviour? When i see how both libraries are awfully familiar, yet this hoo-ra for how system A is so much better than system B, it makes you wonder if people on here actually enjoy the games they play. Or do they get more enjoyment by the games they play here?

And you also forgot Forza Horizons. I know you hate to hear it, but it's the better rated and better game than GT5. Forza Horizons looks to borrow a lil from another popular franchise from Microsoft in PGR. Any fan of sims/racers should be all over this game.

I find it funny that people say "Microsoft only had Halo, Gears, and Forza." Dude????? Those 3 are arguably the best in their respected genre's. And you think Beyond is better than these 3?
