PSA: PlayStation Network is Down Worldwide

PSA: It seems that the PlayStation Store is down worldwide, resulting in users not being to access the digital store. It should be noted that all current downloads seem to be uninterrupted while access to PSN itself is still live with friends list. However, online gaming seems to be down for some. Other Sony services such as Music and Video Unlimited are also down. (PS Vita, PS3, Tag Invalid)

Oh yikes, its down for me as well.
CZUM  +   829d ago
Same here. I want to play GR:FS double XP weekend, and look what i found!? PSN Blackout!
Dante112  +   829d ago
Probably still updating the PSN. Asked a mod about it on the us forum and he said that the PS E3 update might have caused the hiccup, said it should be up soon.
RIPSKATEDESTROY  +   829d ago
anybody think it can be too many downloads going on? hmmm...
brish  +   829d ago
@ripskatedestroy

I think it's because the playstation plus update is so good that they probably have a lot of new users.

The new users, and existing users trying to download at least 30 gigs of games each is likely overloading their servers.
Tired  +   829d ago
It's back up!

@decrypt

I know right? Blizzard is struggling to keep the network up.
reynod  +   829d ago
Blizzard not being able to keep their network up doesnt mean everything else comes crashing down. There is a big difference here.

Blizzard network down, play something else.

PSN, XBL down, cant do anything.

calibann  +   829d ago
I can play all of my pc games offline, what are you insinuating? That every PC game requires a connection?
reynod  +   829d ago
@Nathan

It still doesnt change the fact that all online play on console is totally dependant on one network. It goes down there is nothing you can do online on the console.

@tarbis

You can play PC games offline too. Stop kidding yourself.

In general the point is consoles are so dependant on their manufacturer, there should actually be a demand for more freedom. It actually means at any point should they wish they can just kill the network. Imagine PS4 comes out or Xbox 720 comes out. Just because they want you to move on, they could kill the service and force you to get the next console (that is if you want to play online).

Check out the Xbox 1 service is it still online? no it isnt. Are PC games from Xbox 1 era still able to play online? yes they are.

Imo people have bought thousands usd worth of games this gen, they should atleast have some control over the situation. Currently the switch is with the console maker they can plug off the whole network at will. I dont see why people are getting so defensive about it, even though its something not in the gamers favor, its in the console makers favor.
Biggest  +   829d ago
Sure can't play Diablo III offline.
Army_of_Darkness  +   829d ago
Unlike pc gamers..
Us console gamers don't rely heavily with online gaming and also keep in mind, we just started gaming online at full throttle THIS GEN, so it doesn't really effect me at all weather or not I can play online cause I always have and always will enjoy the single campaigns more than the multiplayer portion;-)

i find it hilarious articles go up and get mass attention if psn goes down, i never read a peep about when live goes down.
Blastoise  +   829d ago
Not for me, I was just playing starhawk online :S

maybe if i sign out i wont be able to sign back in lol
better not try it...
HammadTheBeast  +   829d ago
STARHAWKKKK!!!

I;m going to try logging in from in-game. The game has a built in logger. Which may help.
TBM  +   829d ago
can't use store, but netflix is still working lol. article says it sparked concern about a breach, and thats the one thing i didnt even think about lol.

i figured its just some kind of update, because i got that early in the week also.

I noticed during the outage that just because PSN is down it doesn't mean you can't connect to the internet. Web browser should work perfectly as should the tv apps :)
killerhog  +   829d ago
it informs me, that my password is invalid and for me to change it. this never happened to me besides the time Sony told us too, after the PSN went back up, due to the hack. Very suspicious, especially that a worldwide network maintenance is happening on the weekend. other people are also saying they are told their password is invalid and to change it.

Also the 'password invalid, change password prompt', never happened to me during other maintenance post PSN hack. So, this is weird.

Hackers retaliation for a successful Sony E3 conference? I mean, im not saying the PSN is hacked, but maybe Sony is fighting off intrusion attempts? But this is all speculation and im entitled to it lol.

yes...same here
killerhog  +   829d ago
i am able to log in!!!!! YAY, THANK THE GAMING DEITIES!!! Good thing it wasnt a freaking hack or else a lot of people would of been tired of it and switched. But still we dont know.
BlmThug  +   829d ago
'successful Sony E3 conference' LOL xD
StraightPath  +   829d ago
how often is psn down?..
chadwarden  +   829d ago
Not as often as the media claim.
_Aarix_  +   829d ago
honestly, not really at all. A couple hiccups rarely happen like this otherwise its great.
NBT91  +   829d ago
Its online more than it is offline, and its free.
I reckon everyone suddenly downloading 30+GB of free games off PS Plus caused a meltdown =P least I can say I contributed my part to that XD
MaxXAttaxX  +   829d ago
There are 10 times more articles about PSN being down for maintenance than articles about it being back up!

So not as much as it seems.
erick21093  +   829d ago
Lol, I was asleep a while ago and I got a txt message by a friend saying he couldn't sign in because it said wrong password, I started laughing cuz I thought he got his password changed and later he tells me in another msg the psn was down and I was like "Looks like your just looking for an excuse cuz your nervous" haha and I turn on my ps3 and sign's in fine then get on n4g to find this lol I guess I was wrong
morkendo23  +   829d ago
lets hope when PS4 comes out all security issues is safe and hackers not able to screw with it so early.
andibandit  +   828d ago

avengers1978  +   828d ago
this outage didnt even last for 8 hrs for me.
phantomexe  +   829d ago
Just went down for me. i was working on the last of those free games. i just upgraded my hard drive to 500 gigs, the 120 just wasn't big enough.
GuruStarr78  +   829d ago
sucks.. I'm stuck here at the firestation on overtime and all i wanted to do during my downtime was play some resistance: BS Multiplayer..... just signed up for mobile hotspot through Sprint and was hoping to use it.... damn...
dericb11  +   829d ago
Unlock your phone and get hotspots for free. Plus there is no data cap.
GuruStarr78  +   829d ago
how do i unlock my phone... guessing i'd have to root it, but how?

Ok, I looked it up... it's kind of a pain in the butt to do and it's not guaranteed to work or to not screw up your OS..

I've got a samsung epic 4g d700 with sprint..

dericb11  +   829d ago
Mines is fine. Have the Epic Touch 4G. Trust me it is worth it.
GuruStarr78  +   829d ago
I don't think it would have the bandwith, anyways, to play mp matches.. I cancelled the hotspot service after psn came back, because even though I could connect to psn, I couldn't get into an online match with my vita going through my phone's 4g conection.

I think the only way to get into mp matches is to connect thru a router and/or a modem..

On another note, I just ordered a 500gb hdd for my ps3 so I can download all the ps plus games I want... 120gb just doesn't cut it..

SSKILLZ  +   829d ago
it cant be haked any more because of the protection service it has and the machine running it, basically you would have to guess for the code more than a billion times.

don't you pay a subscription for them games.
