Was E3 2012 the grisliest games show ever?

One of the big takeaways from E3 this year was the sheer brutality - and frequency - of the violence on display in trailers and demos during the big publisher press conferences. (E3, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Comparatively I guess. Lots of action games.

Only thing that really shocked me though was that Zombie U freeze frame trailer - that was pretty gory.
