CricketGaming: EA Sports’ executive vice president Andrew Wilson confirms about plans for next cricket game from EA Sports.
Baseball barely has the gameplay to make for a actual game, how could a sport that involves hitting a ball then running between two points provide compelling gameplay? Just because you're a fan of something or just because you actually enjoy playing whatever abomination of a sport it is you play. Doesn't mean its going to make an enjoyable game. NHL, NBA, NFL, FIFA and even the extreme sport type titles actually offer some variation and different systems. They provide a compelling experience to fans and non fans alike. You aren't going to get that out of a cricket simulator! Running between two points isn't fun, it can't be fun. There is nothing about that, that is remotely fun.
Just to add: Quidditch World Cup got made into a game in 07 by EA. If the demand is there, people will buy it.
Theres more to cricket then just "running between two points". More to it than baseball as well and I like baseball.
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of 11 players on a field, at the centre of which is a rectangular 22-yard long pitch. One team bats, trying to score as many runs as possible while the other team bowls and fields, trying to dismiss the batsmen and thus limit the runs scored by the batting team. A run is scored by the striking batsman hitting the ball with his bat, running to the opposite end of the pitch and touching the crease there without being dismissed. The teams switch between batting and fielding at the end of an innings. So much more.
*Facepalm. You really know nothing about cricket and im not gonna bother explaining it to you but i appreciate the stealth disagrees in each of comments.
It seems you hardly know about cricket. Cricket is a more popular game than Baseball Worldwide. If its not popular in America that doesn't mean it is a waste game. A.I and Gameplay created for Cricket games is a more difficult task than to create for Baseball and even Football.
Ravenor, you really don't understand cricket then do you.
First impression I got as well lol.
Even if they did make one. It would suck.
Make a rock paper scissors game. I bet that would be great...
Gotta love people who hate on a sport simply because they don't like it. Is cricket popular in America? No. Does that mean the rest of the world hates it? No. Cricket games have been made before, and have actually been really fun, one of my favourites to play even though I am not a cricket fan at all.
Cricket is a far more global sport than baseball is. People who live in glass houses I guess.
That's what it comes down to. The Cricket World Cup is watched by more people than the Superbowl or World Series or any American sport. You have no idea how popular cricket is amongst people in the likes of India and Pakistan. Point is, there's enough people, worldwide, who watch cricket and stuff like NCAA which doesn't even register outside the US and definitely not to as wide an audience as NFL, gets a game, so, why not cricket?
