Bethesda still intends for Rage to be a big franchise

Bethesda still intends for id shooter Rage to be a big franchise.

In the run-up to Rage's 2011 release id trumpeted its hope that it would prove successful enough to spawn a new franchise for the legendary FPS developer.

But Bethesda has remained quiet on the future of the IP since, and is yet to reveal sales of the product since its October 2011 launch. (Bethesda Softworks, Dev, Industry, Rage)

I picked Rage up not too long ago and quite enjoy it. It's not really an open world/RPG game, but does have some of those elements. If your not trying to box it in for a certain type of game then it's pretty good. Texture pop-ins are pretty obvious though.

i totally enjoyed the game, but yeah the texture pop ins on PC really need be sorted if they do future versions, loved the NPC characters styles in the towns

The pop-ins are bad, but that in no way hindered me enjoying the game. It's fun, has variety, cool weapons and ammo, lots of upgrades and lots of loot.

It's a pretty good game, I got it from Best Buy new for only $5, and it was one of the best $5 I've ever spent.

Solid game. 8/10

The only real problem with the game was the last level and especially the worst ending in a video game in a long while.

Good. I really enjoyed Rage. Not Id's best work, but still a heck of a lot of fun. It should be made more open ended next time though.

When I played the PS3 demo I was really surprised at how smooth it was as well as it's graphics.
Really enjoyed playing it.

Must be the demo because the full game is anything but smooth.

They have a lot of work to do if they want to appeal to the PC crowd in a more positive light.
paddystan  +   1148d ago
Agreed. I used most of the week after it launched trying to decrease the texture pop-in. In my opinion, a game shpuld be ready to be played on right when it has been released.

It was very disapointing. Oh well, lesson learned.

The game had potential...

it really could have done with a bit more time (even though it had been in developement for ages).

The ending really really let it down, but the gameplay was fun.

Next gen hardware is just what it needs.

It was on PC and it was still bad graphically next gen Hardware has nothing to do it

I'm so glad I didn't buy this game when it came out. A few weeks after launch, it was $25 and now it's a mere $10.

It was pretty, did a few things pretty well, but it was definitely one of the most boring games I have ever played.
seanpitt23  +   1148d ago
yeah really good game gameplay was awesome but the ending was a real let down i mean it took them 6 to 7 years to make and they came up with that come on and there was no replay value at all with this game the multiplayer sucked balls just like a afterthought car racing wtf.

Definitely one of the most disappointing endings in a long long time. The game is pretty solid right the way through but the end 'sequence' was completely non existent.

has the 64bit exe been released yet for PC ?

I enjoyed the sh^t out of RAGE.
And the vehicular mp was much better than I thought it would be.

I'd love to get a sequel with a better story and proper ending.

Well, its glad to see that some people besides myself enjoyed Rage. I know how everyone likes to jump on the hate wagon here on this site. I will welcome the next game but I want Doom first....haha

How about not releasing a broken tech demo next time?
