Mario Is Nintendo's Little Whore

MMGN.com writes: It's no secret that Mario is Nintendo's flagship character. The Italian plumber has saved the Mushroom Kingdom countless times, served up a few aces on the tennis court, and even managed to squeeze in some karting time with his buds on the racetrack. He's sold more games and received more critical acclaim than any other character in the gaming industry.

Every Nintendo fanboy will hate me for saying it but this is an accurate description of what Mario has become. No video game character has ever been milked this much. Not even Sonic.

Lovable2018d ago

Funny enough, they're milking it the right way. Every game involving Mario is a universal acclaimed hit. It's just getting better and better.

darthv722018d ago

Its one thing to view him as being milked but then again the games they use him in are generally really good. There are a few exceptions but the majority of titles that involve mario are quality titles.

From sports to rpg to racing to platform and even pinball. they are all well thought out and fun. Now if this was about sonic it would be a different story. Not so much in the sense that sonic isnt being milked but in the sense that NOT every game that Sega made with sonic is a good game.

Mario being pimped out for all sorts of games. People look at that like its a bad thing. If it makes them crap loads of $$$ and people buy it then hey...they have to keep their whore in top quality form.

@darthv72

I still think they are starting to give Mario a little too much saturation, good game or not.

Ironically, Sonic actually does not have a big Sonic this year. Sonic racing is technically a Sega title, but has Sonic on there to sell some copies. It is kinda odd though seeing mario come out more often like this. I got back into mario recently, but it is a little frequent for my gamer habits.

Timmer2018d ago

As a Nintendo fan, I have to agree. They milk him every chance they get.

But you know the old saying right? If it works, don't fix it.

AWBrawler2018d ago

if you had a cow that kept giving good milk, would you kill it? or would you keep drinking the milk?

same here

gumgum992017d ago

indeed. With over 200 games and counting, there is no game icon with a greater library of games with their mug on it.

live2play2017d ago

that is the whole POINT IF MARIO

nintendo wanted a character that could be used IN ALOT OF GAMES

he was created for the sole purpose of being the FACE of nintendo and its many games

Funny! The word "funny" has "FUN" in it. If Mario games keeps on being FUN, then Mario can be Nintendo's little whore all he wants.

corrus2018d ago

Stupid losers know only that Mario and Zelda i wonder why they need from new console for the same trash

Timmer2018d ago

You're entitled to your opinion, but when the next-gen of Sony/Microsoft come out, will you say the same thing for God of War, Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty (Especially Call of Duty), and others?

In what way do fancier graphics help enhance the experience of button-mashing in God of War? Does it add more blood in Gears? Does it make multiplayer in Halo and Call of Duty more fun?

If gamers could get one universal system (maybe the PC) that would run everything, could we then stop bitching and criticizing each other for our opinions?

NYC_Gamer2018d ago (Edited 2018d ago )

Nintendo just polished up that Wii/3DS version of Mario and added the Wii-U on the title just to make up for that sorry launch line up

AWBrawler2018d ago

Hey, cheer up chum. I'll let you play mine when I get it, so stop throwing tantrum cause mommy won't buy you a new console.

no seriously tho, 2D mario is loved by more people than 3D mario because it seems less intimidating. Want proof, look at the sells of Galaxy Vs newSMB! Did I mention their good games too??

WildStyles2018d ago

It's pretty undeniable at this point. I mean, 3 Marios at one press conference? That's pretty crazy right there.
