Do you remember that demo of The Last of Us that we saw during Sony’s E3 2012 keynote? Looked awesome, didn’t it? In fact, it looked so good that some audiences thought it was a little scripted. It wasn’t. Not in the slightest bit.
It's Naughty Dog...the only thing I can guess is i'll be saying wow..lol.
Naughty Dog is truly one of best developers ever.
I really can't believe I am going to say it (because the Uncharted series is awesome) but Last of Us looks even better than Uncharted. Very impressive indeed. Last of Us and Watch Dogs are the most impressive games at this year's E3 (imo). Not just because of the graphics, but the characters, the gameplay... everything looks amazing.
the best part is how naughty dog lets their ip's go away, they've made hits, each generation starting on the psone, yet they always know that they need to move on at somepoint, regardless of how good a game it is and try something original, (looking at you nintendo, and microsoft with halo odst, reach, and 4) but there needs to be a conclusion to uncharted, with a vibe of end to the series going on. pleassse, just one more....
@hisiru Last of Us looks promising as hell. i'm little skeptical about the Watch Dogs though. it looks like an open world game with phone or any electronic tapping abilities. let's see how the story rolls out.
"Naughty Dog is truly one of best developers ever" ND didn't achieve even a quarter of what Nintendo or Capcom did to this industry- i call this a FACT also the article says the game wasn't scripted at all lol...NO! some sequences were scripted, Ellie was scripted the AI wasn't "dynamic" the whole time.....worst of all the game was nothing special and it was linear
Right up there with Rockstar and 2K. @J-Blaze: Mad you don't have a PS3? Nintendo and Capcom have been making rehashes for the past 2 decades now. How many Street Fighters can we possibly need? There's been at least 30 now. Naughty Dog has pushed every PS console to its limits, from Crash on the PS1 to Uncharted on the PS3, and this game beats tons of others out there. The game is in no way linear, it offers at least 10 different ways to face every encounter, or the option to not even fight at all. The AI was dynamic, it knew when the character as out of bullets because of the click of an empty chamber, it ambushed him by sneaking beside a wall and so much more. You sound like an 11 year old right now.
@ HammadTheOne If he sounds like an 11 year old, it's due to his fanatical obsession with Japan and everything that comes with that. Now that isn't a racist comment since I love Japan and the culture and its people, but j-blaze has such an immature mentality it's quite disturbing. What you said is completely right and he will never know it because whatever facts are presented, he will ignore them due to his incredibly pathetic hate for Naughty Dog. @ j-blaze ND are a developer of Sony, so they have no room to expand and milk games to the extent that Nintendo or Capcom have. As such, they know when enough is enough for the sake of the franchise. This is what Capcom don't understand, and they have almost dragged the Resident Evil franchise fully from its roots and milked several other of their IPs so that people are just fed up. Nintendo manages to keep their Mario, Zelda etc fresh due to new gameplay styles, but Nintendo are a console manufacturer and have been around for much longer. You call it a fact, but that is just common sense. Nintendo and Capcom are publishing companies - ND isn't, but is a developer. Doesn't stop them from being one of the best developers in the world. :p "Ellie was scripted the AI wasn't "dynamic" the whole time.....worst of all the game was nothing special and it was linear" What in the world are you talking about??? Oh, I know... BS!! Utter fanboy spewing BS! Ellie is the primary AI, of course she's not scripted. How would that work exactly? She is "dynamic" and her AI opted to throw a brick at the enemy. When Joel was being strangled, her AI dictated for her to come and stab the guy in the back. That is what I call dynamic, and you are deluded. And the game is nothing special? Well... why doesn't this surprise me? In your little Japan-obsessed bubble, it's an overrated rubbish game. Meanwhile, most other people think it looks really good. Do you actually know anything about the game other than watching the videos that have been released? I doubt it. And furthermore, tell me what is so special about that awesome game Resident Evil 6. What makes it so much better?
I like this! Nuff said!
naughty dog is an amazing group of developers. like the square of old.
To tell you the truth, i think some Playstation exclusive developers are some of the best
True, the top 5 first party Sony devs TO ME are (in no specific order): Sony Santa Monica Naughty Dog Sucker Punch SCE Japan Studio (Team Ico/Team Siren) Guerrilla Games Honorable mentions: Media Molecule Polyphony Digital SCE Bend Studio Evolution Studios If Quantic Dream was 1st party (which they probably will be in the future) than it would be top 6 devs lol.
Sony might have many flaws and made many mistakes over the years but there is no denying that theyre ace at spoting talent and most important of all they are not afraid to take risks and let their studios have creative freedom. As long as they have studios like ND, PD, Team Ico, Media Molecule, Santa Monica... on their side ill always be "forced" to buy a Sony console.
I remember it was the same thing with Uncharted 2. Everyone was saying "that isn't in game". Until they played it :)
i remember deciding i didn't want a xbox anymore after watching that amazing uncharted 2 E3 09 demo. I remember it like it was yesterday............. cue flashback http://www.youtube.com/watc...
There was someone on N4G claiming that TLOU and Watchdogs were scripted. This proves them wrong.
Yeah Naughty Dog and Sony have shown exactly why 1st party games still matter. With resources and expertise focused on making a game for one specific console you get results that can't be matched by multiplatform titles...
I can't help but wondering what Naughty Dog has to do in order to get the benefit of the doubt. They blow everyone away with every game they make, yet they still have people claiming they faked something or used some sort of deception. Their final retail versions of games have been very consistent with those demos that have blown peoples minds at shows.
Haters gonna hate. Usually it's because they don't have a PS3 and they try to convince themselves that they don't need to play this game. Coming up with BS excuses and getting proved wrong time and time again. Eventually they will get a solid complaint about the game once it comes out and cling to it as the reason the game sucks.
lolz funny but true
I think it's simply because the games look 'too' good. The jump from even the last Uncharted game to this looks a lot and people where hating on that when it was first shown. No wonder people are hating on the Last of Us. Personally I think bits of it are scripted (in the sense that the camera changes into the optical position and such) but all those sections are interactive via the controller. Doesn't matter really because ND always play the long game and they always come out in the end on top.
It obviously wasn't scripted. Anyone with eyes could have see that.First of all if you have a life bar how could the game play be scripted? There are obviously ways to avoid the damage you get. Look at the part where the guy hit you with the pipe and your life went down. There has to be a way to avoid that so your life bar doesn't go down. Second of all if you have a back pack full of things to use that means that you don't even have to use the same thing every time. If you didn't have the Molotov or any projectile weapon it would mean you would have no choice but to fight hand to hand not only meaning the scenario would play out differently but you would have to be more careful And last of all when Joel had the gun he used it to hold the guy hostage and used a bullet to keep the guy behind the couch. He didn't have to take the guy hostage or fire a shot to keep the guy behind the couch. But if he had instead took down the guy in front of him and the guy behind the couch by hand he would have still had bullets to take care of the guy coming through the door. Therefore the guy would not have advanced because Joel was out of bullets and Ellie wouldn't have had to intervene with the brick. And if he had killed both guys with the Molotov, the guy wouldn't been there with the shotgun to stop them from going through the door in the other room. See how easily it could have gone differently?
I've never been as impressed with enemy AI and amazing unscripted gameplay as I am with TLOU.
Yeah ND had perfected most of the elements in Uncharted, like gameplay and graphics so the AI seems to be their new achievement. Probably why some people, whatever their reason, had trouble believing it as others have claimed this kind of AI improvement before without delivering...
