They called it a 'tech demo' but I'm wondering if that was just a target of what they're shooting for. It looked more like a CGI cutscene to me. If it is truly an accurate representation of actual gameplay then, yes, I'm impressed.

I'm hoping theirs no real difference compared to the demo and actual gameplay cause the game look's beautiful.

The Witcher 2 PC looks better than this and that while playing it and not just watching it like this tech Demo

I think it's pretty close to what we will see from actual game play for a few reasons. First and this is the big one is thinking back to that FF7 Tech demo. Games can look about that good. For example Beyond looks better then that FF7 tech demo did and that is a current gen game.

2nd SE has stated in the past that they wanted to create a engine that would blur the line between games and CGI and this is pretty much it. It makes sense when you think about it. Those CGI cut scenes that the FF games been known for are quite expensive to produce(on top of being large on the disc) so if they create a engine that can look like that they don't need to make those CGI scenes they can just make everything in engine.

The thing that annoys me with SE engines is they never license them out to other people and even within SE seem to only use them for FF games. They make these engines that can be very beautiful but don't license them out like other companies do which makes no sense to me.

It's a great demonstration of what graphics could/will be like either this generation or in the next generation of consoles, but the graphics have never been a negative with Final Fantasy games. They've always used the current technology very well and have looked amazing for their generations.

I hope Square-Enix realizes they have some catching up to do with concern to the gameplay of the Final Fantasy games. I think the industry as a whole is better off if companies like Square-Enix are succeeding, since it allows for them to push boundries. But for them to succeed, they need to focus on more than making the games visually appealing.

The whole point of the demo was to show off what their next-gen engine IS capable of doing real time, so yes, it's jaw-dropping (way better than that Samaritan demo which is over a year old). Now, whether or not next-gen consoles are capable of using it completely is another deal.

Worried about the time it takes to develop a scene of this size versus a who game. They need to make the engine as easy to use and intuitive as possible to speed up development time and bring costs down otherwise games will be dumbed down in the story department.
