GamerFitNation: Today, we had a sit down with Yoshiaki Hirabashi in a group presentation among various media outlets. In the this setting I was able to ask a question that I felt many fans of the franchise would want to know. What will happen the upgrade system from RE4 and RE5?

I'm going to miss the merchant.

Though he probably wouldn't survive all the explosions.

-Superman-1937d ago

Resident Evil is not Resident Evil anymore...

SKUD1937d ago (Edited 1937d ago )

Hasn't been for over a decade now. Damn shame.

Hisiru1937d ago

Can't they just rename the series? It will cause less pain for the fans.

FinaLXiii1936d ago (Edited 1936d ago )

In the traditional RE games you dont buy the weapons you pick them up.

dark-hollow1937d ago

Thanks god.
No more grinding.

WeskerChildReborned1937d ago

Alway's wondered who that merchant was from Resident Evil 4.

Solid_Snake371937d ago

He is the acolyte from Warcraft 3

Minato-Namikaze1937d ago

^ damn that makes so much sense

sofocado1936d ago

He moved to a different game. He is the merchant from Dark Sector.

Agent Smith1937d ago

Whadda ya buyin' stranger?

izumo_lee1937d ago

I guess nuthin if this is indeed true.

So Capcom is not only moving away from survival horror they are taking away a "man's" job? Is there any way to donate to the merchant so he can continue making a living?

FarCryLover1821937d ago

He will be back in February 2013 in the DLC titled "The Merchant Returns: Leon Saves the Poor Man From an Unknown Entity."

Hisiru1937d ago (Edited 1937d ago )

@FarCryLover182
I am sure they will release a DLC for the Merchant's story showing how he died.

FarCryLover1821937d ago (Edited 1937d ago )

Haha, perhaps. Or in my idea that unknown entity that was mentioned in "The Merchant Returns..." will be revealed in another upcoming DLC ;)

Urbz78701937d ago

*buys RPG* Stranger, Stranger, now thats a weapon!

WeskerChildReborned1937d ago (Edited 1937d ago )

*ding ding ding ding ding We have a winner!*

With so many characters they'll probably just have two weapons each. If you want more, you buy the alternate costume version of that character that comes with different two weapons... Or even better, you unlock 'em from the disc.

I'll not be surprised if you don't even have an inventory in RE6 anymore. I mean, they can go even more casual shooter crap and get rid of herbs and health bar so you won't need an inventory... If there's an inventory it's going to be like RE4 briefcase, just that you gonna need to pay for bigger inventory in DLC.

I never thought the day would come when I would not buy a main RE game... I don't buy all games, I passed most of the spin-offs, but I always had that "gotta know the main story, gotta know what happens next" feel, so I put up with this crap despite the letdowns. Now Capcom did it, the game looks so lame I just don't care anymore... Now it's a bargain bin for the Gold Edition in 2013 at best.

jc485731936d ago (Edited 1936d ago )

seriously, they can do whatever they way with the game. I will be picking up the gold edition instead, so screw Resident Evil 6 Vanilla.

Hufandpuf1937d ago

"whadda ya buyin'?"

Not RE6...

smashcrashbash1937d ago

Why? What was wrong with buying weapons in RE? And while we are on the subject *turns to Team Ninja* Why did YOU guys leave out the shops in NG3? I mean I don't mind change but I never understand why developers change things for no real reason at all. Like with Burnout 3 where you just went anywhere on the world map and choose a race or event. That was perfect. Why change it?

LOGICWINS1937d ago

It can lead to beating the game in a cheesy way. When I fought Ramon Salazar in RE4, I kept on losing. Then after my 6th try, I realized that I had enough pesetas(1,000,000) for a rocket launcher. I ended up killing Salazar with just ONE(maybe two) rocket launcher missile.
