Mounting evidence suggests that the next Xbox and PlayStation will release in 2013, even though both are completely absent from E3 2012.
No, no, no... At least not for Sony. If they do that they'll ruin themselves right now.
Why single out Sony?
Sorry Sony will launch PS4 Hollyday 2013
after this CRAPFEST E3 2012 who cares who come out first. if only FPS games on ps4 or i8 with nothing else it dont matter anymore. video game industry dieing out again. back in NES ,SNES,PS1,PS2 days variety reign. now same sh'tfest over an over.
and what makes you think that? by mid/the end of 2013 the PS3 would be 7 years old. The PS2 was 6 years out when the PS3 came out. Perfect timing if you ask me.
Some of you got to stop making assumptions because of steps or timing in the past. The climate, cost many factors, come into play TODAY. These systems launched at a higher price than prior generations. This generation saw the success of 3 consoles along with handhelds and phone and tablets. You have one company overall profiting and two companies overall losing money today. You can't based it simply on how many years it has been around. I was part of the few that didn't believe we would hear a price drop for any system at E3. Sony in particular as a company has lost almost 100 billion in the last 10 years. They are not in a position to continue doing the status quo.
All I know is that next-gen is in development, all the big developers are making games for the PS4 and the next Xbox. Its inevitable that next-gen will arrive soon.
Ugh, I just didn't want to go through the process of explaining WHY this is a bad idea for the 3rd time now, because these articles keep popping up. The only reason I singled out Sony is because I haven't been really keeping up with Xbox in terms of how they're doing. I'm not going to talk about something if I don't know the details. Though I'm sure Microsoft would do fine putting out a new console by 2013 as they're financially stable enough to do so.
I really hope so, I'm ready today for next gen hardware.
After seeing Watch Dogs, Star Wars 1313 and Square's next-gen engine it's impossible not to be exited. And tomorrow, Unreal Engine 4. Can't wait.
It's possible. Microsoft and Sony could announce next gen consoles at E3 2013 and then there will be a war between Sony and Microsoft if they release close to each other.
It doesn't take an analyst to predict a late 2013 or 2014 release date.....
when sony does do it, i hope they evolve that damn dual shock. I love the dpad & face buttons but hate the L2R2 triggers & analogs.. Its been this way since PS1 for crying out loud.. FIX IT!!
the analogs are trash
Yea the triggers aren't really that great but i don't really find an issue with the analogs but that's just me.
Thats what i like best about sonys controllers are the analog sticks! Triggers are not that great but they are better than the ps2 L2R2 buttons.
I like the analogs...
I hope they annonuce it at pax or GDC or something with anouncements that watch dogs will be on the next gen consoles. I dont want to wait.
If u think that looks good, check out IGN & see Square Enixs next gen engine.. Its too damn good looking
Late 2013? That means 360 will be 8 years old. Why did this gen last so much longer than the previous?
Better tech, updates, more consumer and developer support and nobody wants to constantly shell out money for expensive things...Except apple fans
when has an 8 year waiting period constantly shelling out?
Well, it isn't that's what I said... If things are getting more expensive you'd expect them to last longer
This current hardware outdated. After watching e3 and looking at the "power house" dev in the industry I think it's time to move on.
Both will be out around x-mas time, and this is old news i heard this last yr
don't they have to make an announcement first before they actually release a console? It usually takes more than year to be released after the announcement has been made.
When xbox was announced it was released the same year, 8-10 months after announcement. I think it was announced at gdc actually. Check wikipedia
I think 2014 is pretty much confirmed. E3 is when they show their new consoles and they wait for more than a year to release them... of course things could change
revealed at E3 2013 hit marketing 2014. thats how i c it
The last of us and Beyond (hell, probably even halo 4) looked better than anything that was shown on the wii U at this E3. The wii u's launch was clearly premature, and solely used as a marketing ploy. we dont need next gen yet and the wii u is not representative of next gen. it is the wii all over again, as this E3 conference showed. the next playstation and xbox will come out late 2013 or 2014 and they will be worth the wait.
sony wont ruin the 6 yrs of their systems, and every1 knows after the 6th yr they come out with another system
They boasted a 10 yr life cycle & have yet to release alot of unfinished projects.. Id rather wait a bit longer & them do it right than it come out & be plagued with problems after a couple years.. The tech may be too expensive right now too
I agree with that and after a yr and a month my ps3 took a shit
the analysts are wrong. we won't see the new generation systems (apart from wii U) until 2014 - E3 is always an indicator as to when things happen. no E3 announcement this year means they're going to have an introductory announcement next year followed by a full-detail announcement at E3 2014 that includes the release date (likely holiday season that year).
Perhaps but many consoles are revealed and released in the same year. I don't think Microsoft will ever reveal a console over a year in advance because they don't want to cannibalize holiday sales on their current system that is out.
Dunno the crying for next gen. Nothing's wrong with what the current gen is producing. People are so eager for new graphics, oh wooooow the graphics are real-like. Who gives a crap about graphics it's a game the gameplay is what counts. Maybe Microsoft needs another gen because they cant squeeze more of that 360 but Sony is doing fine. Besides, it'd be cool to see the Chief of next gen, that's the only reason i'm excited for that, other than that, meh.
In all fairness the next-gen systems will allow them to ultimately enhance games all around and not just graphically.
Anyone that didn't already think this must not have seen this years E3 shows. Microsoft and Sony are both going after families and adding entertainment so that these consoles can continue to sell after the new ones are released. Microsoft has had their studios working on next gen games for a few years now. Sony even showed less games than ever before, so its obvious that they are going to show off their new hardware next year. I just don't see Sony and Microsoft giving Nintendo two full years on the market without new competition. Lets face it, tech people will want a Wii U simply because its new hardware.
Did you pay attention to the Nintendo conference? What exactly would MS or Sony need to be concerned about if they did launch in 2014. How was the 3rd party support? I barely saw any and here it is everyone kept going off of individual revs that stated their opinions about boosting the Wii and that made everyone assume a lot of 3rd party was on board. They wasted another E3 not learning from the last E3. What dowe know about the online structure? That alone is a huge decision if anyone cares to play a Wii version. Upgraded graphics are not going to be enough to be concerned about the current consoles and if the new models don't come until 2014.
So you think Microsoft and Sony are just going to sit on their next generation consoles another year? It doesn't really make sense to do that in my opinion. Sony has a ton of developers, so they can afford to still put out some first party titles on the PS3, while still having some work on PS4 games, Microsoft doesn't really have that luxury. I think the reason Microsoft has dropped their number of exclusives is obviously because their teams have been working on next generation games for a few years now. Just because some of the more vocal people in gaming forums didn't like Nintendo's E3, doesn't mean the Wii U wont sell like hotcakes this holiday season. If they price that thing right, a lot of people are going to want the chance to play Nintendo games in HD. I highly doubt Microsoft and Sony let Nintendo have a full 2 year lead on them for the generation. That could very well lead to a 15-20 million deficit to start out against, and that would be if the Wii U didn't sell that great.
Im sorry were you one of the people that claimed they were going to say SOMTHING about them this year at E3? What about the Price drops for Sony Vita? How about the money Sony has been losing and the Vita performance? Sony cannot afford to just throw money at games like they have in the past. Hell, Sony themselves stated they had to lesson the amount of exclusives being launched because they can't afford to market all of them as we clearly saw in 2011. Again how did 2011 work with everyone making claims the 360 has no games because it isn't titled exclusive vs Sony's system of games and yet the 360 came out on top both systems being sold and financially. It doesn't matter if Wii does sale 20 million, what matters is the money achieved from not only selling systems and selling software. I am still waiting to hear how Online is supposed to work for the WIi U. That is their biggest hurdle since they claimed they are going for the hardcore audience and this was supposed to be the E3 they show that off. Slightly better graphics and gimmicks with a tablet like is not going to get the hardcore to buy the system and it especially is not going to get grandma that bought the Wii in 2006 to buy the Wii U in 2012.
