A new article on the website for The New York Times is pretty harsh on gamers who aren't down with family time.
I can't wait for the future when kids who grew up playing games are now in charge, and there will be no more crap like this from people who don't understand the games industry.
I come from the first generation that grew up playing video games, and since my generation hasn't changed the general perception of hardcore gamers, I don't see that happening.
Just ppl who troll are basement dwellers lol. But honestly Im a guy I need my hardcore games and hardcore movies. Sorry i'm not gonna watch some sappy love story to learn about life and love I see the positive msgs in it but no way in hell will I ever spend 8 bucks on movies like that, Sorry that's just me. I understand we need a "wake up call" that's why I'm in school for education. I need my explosion's and my blood in my entertainment. As we "young men" in our generation grew up watching Power Rangers. What did main stream think was gonna come out of it watching that? What we are today, thrill seeking frag throwing Michael bay Optimus prime loving Avengers "Hulk smash" noob toobin team killing "young men".
That's the media for you, they would rather waste ink on shunning gamers instead of actual news. But then again even the news printed isn't even true due to the many people who usually shell money to bend or cover actual important events.......
I also love hiking, kayaking, road trips, music festivals spending time with friends and family ect ect.
I dont have a basement...but if I did thats where I would play!
Meh, these news agencies just fear what they don't understand. They don't realize just how big gaming is. Did they honestly think that all the people that grew up playing atari and nintedo just quit playing games at 25yrs old? Hell I'm 37yrs old with a wife and 3 nearly grown children and we are all gamers. I just don't think the media gets that. Just because we get old doesn't me we stop playing!
My law degree hanging on my wall in my house says differently.
Its funny that this is from the NYT, a really liberal paper whose agenda is supported by most gamers. Maybe they are pissed because gamers don't buy newspapers. Who are they to care about family values? Anyway, I deal with this all the time. My friends, who spend every night at the bar laugh at me. But, I work 50 hours a week, work outside at home etc. I have video games, others have different hobbies. Though I will say, the gaming industry has been a boon in this economy and more and more people are becoming gamers everyday.
you gotta lol @ all these old fucking shrivs in journalism that constantly deride gaming and hardcore gamers. Its a sector of art that they clearly have no understanding or deep appreciation of.
Well the NY Times is a bastion for liberal thinking and a garbage paper that's going out of business. Their opinion is meaningless. Surprised they didn't use the paper area to gloat about Obama :)
