I disagree with the tone of this article. These games don't always bank solely on nostalgia. I like Mario Galaxy more than I liked Mario 64. And I enjoyed Zelda Skyward Sword more than Ocarina of Time.

The games move forward plenty and the reason for that is because Nintendo is good at what they do, and what they do is present these older franchises in newer ways.

Was there a motion controlled beetle in A Link to the Past? Was there a water gun in Super Mario World? No. But the games with those features were still fun.

"Everyone always complains about how “identical” the yearly installments of Call of Duty are. But why doesn’t anyone complain about how identical Mario is year in and year out?"

Because Mario's primary games today are nothing like the ones from two decades ago?

Or cause Mario is a beloved series from some of our childhood and COD is just one of those games that shouldn't have a ton of sequels.

mamotte2237d ago the only company that actually tries different things every gen, and is stuck in the past? Come on, the dualshock has been here since the PS1.

Why Nintendo does not use BLOOD, 1/2 dressed women, Only Grays and Browns, and uber realistic graphics in their games.
