I think we all saw this coming. What better way to get exposure?

This pretty much would assure that I would never own an XBOX console.

Maybe it's just me, but so be it.

One more time just so we're clear.....

LOGICWINS2263d ago

Me neither. Doesn't change the fact that a lot of people would though.

Technically $160 in one year after adding in costs of live and even maybe over $250 after getting a needed hard drive. Because the average kid isn't going to go on amazon or ebay to find deals. But hey for $100 I would get it just for halo and gears.

Godmars2902263d ago

No, a $100 down payment gives you access to Halo and the like. Then the HDD, $15 sub and games.

Damn :( read the article wrong. Thought it said microsoft TALKING $99 xbox this year :S

I'm sure the rubes will love this.

If you read the fine print it says if a new hardware version comes out, you can send in the version you have for a discount towards it.

I actually hope this works out well, mainly because that would mean that the next generation Xbox might offer the same deal. If I get the chance to get a launch Xbox 720 for $99 down I'm all in, I think a lot of people would be.

Based on the economy, this is the safest way to assure your console sells well.

Microsoft would have a huge advantage over the competition if they let people get a next gen Xbox for $99 down, compared to a probably $399-$499 for the competition.

That may be the reason they are doing it now just to test it out for the future console. If it does well, you may see a down payment for the next console.
