Are Sony holding back Vita remote play streaming on purpose?

Product-Reviews writes: We would hate to think that Sony are holding this feature back, purely and simply because they feel that they’ll lose money on Vita software in the long run. For example, if Sony were to provide remote play Vita streaming for Assassin’s Creed 3 on PS3, then who would still be willing to pick up Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation that has just been announced? Although Vita owners expect to see this functionality in the future, perhaps Sony has had a major u-turn and decided that free PS3 streaming isn’t a good business move.

Remote Play brings so much more value to me thanks to owning a Vita and PS3, so please Sony adopt this everywhere.

Nitrowolf21993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

They announced it yesterday that they are bringing it to all SCE titles.
Not sure about future ones that have both games like Sly Cooper.

danswayuk1993d ago

I see that now, well I guess this story was published a couple of hours early because it was published yesterday.

From the article: ***For example, if Sony were to provide remote play Vita streaming for Assassin’s Creed 3 on PS3, then who would still be willing to pick up Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation that has just been announced?***

Because they're two completely different games?

This is why many games are coming out where you get the PS Vita game for free with the PS3 version.

Iceman X1992d ago

This is not true about getting PS Vita version free. There are NO PS3 games you can buy where you get the PS Vita version free.

@Iceman X

Sound Shapes. Motorstorm RC in Europe.

I agree with you dans. My brother has a Vita but IMO there isn't anything out there that would justify my purchase if I had bought one. Uncharted is decent. Resistance Burning Skies is below average and Unit 13 is below average as well. I'm hoping it gets supported more on the Remote Play features.

Sithlord-Gamble1992d ago (Edited 1992d ago )

I assume you havent played those games.

If you had, youd know that both of those games are NOT below average.

Idk where you got that idea, but it sounds to me like you need to stop listening to reviews and play them yourself to develop your own opinion before you continue spewing nonsense like that.

Cosmit1992d ago (Edited 1992d ago )

*ASSUME*

I guess I'm not entitled to my own opinion. Did I say "IMO there isn't anything out there that would justify Sithlord-Gamble's purchase if the troll had bought one."? No, I clearly wrote MINE.

So stop *ASSUMING* please. Makes you look ignorant.

Here are the games and Vita by the way. So you can stop *ASSUMING*

also render the WiiU pointless

I honestly believe its a licensing issue. It is very possible that sony needs devs/ publishers permission to stream games.

We talk about the issue of say not buying AC3L because of AC3 on the PS3 and remote play possibility. Not the best example since both games are different, but by allowing streaming via remote play you are effectively allowing your game to be played on two devices for the price of one buy.

Considering how money orientated the industry has become I think there being legality issues for Sony is the key problem here in regards to streaming via remote play.

It also would explain why PS1 games are fine since one buy nets you the game for all of your PS devices (up the whatever the limit was again) so that is not an issue for a dev/ publisher.

AC Liberation is not the same as Ac3 though
But for games like Sly Cooper or PASBR then yeah.
I'm wondering though, the PR did say all SCE title would have remote play eventually. Does that include those titles I listed though?

Edited: How this story doesn't know about that announcement I see. Yeah Sony announced that all titles from SCE would have remote play yesterday VIA Press release. No date when, but I'm guessing soon.

WitWolfy1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

Huba Huba Uncharted Trillogy and every other SCE game prepare to be played remotely VIA handheld!

Fyflin1993d ago

i just want to be able to copy games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus across and play them on my Vita.

MK24ever1993d ago

Mr. Yoshida twited that due to memory limitations on PS3 remote play wouldn't work well for most games, so I doubt we'll see this being truly functional ever.

Tired1992d ago

I got tired of reading about this so took matters into my own hands.

I picked up the phone and dialed customer services, said...

'Sony...are you holding back Vita remote play streaming on purpose?'

Do you know what they said?

'Yes....we're Doing it to screw with dansway...shhh!'

Can you believe it?
