Joining the Masses: Why Dead Space 3 is Not Appealing
After watching the gameplay demo for Dead Space 3, Rexly has noticed a few things that might be a letdown for fans of the sci-fi horror series.
(Dead Space 3, E3, EA, PC, PS3, Visceral games, Xbox 360)
"...at least they didn't sell out their franchise to try and appeal to a broader audience."
Multiplayer in Dead Space 2 and forced co-op in Dead Space 3 begs to differ. I still hate Capcom more than Visceral for what they have done to Resident Evil 6 though.
Honestly, I understand the feeling. I was underwhelmed when I saw it. Until I realized something.
I think they're taking a big step. I personally won't be using the Co-Op feature but for whoever does, more power to you.
At the end of Dead Space and Dead Space 2, I felt tired of scripted scare sequences with necromorphs jumping around a corner. But they may be using a different way to scare us. Maybe if we feel that even our partner hates us for some reason, we could still feel alone. And at some point, they'll likely get separated. I think they'll switch out jump scares for desolation and depression.
Also remember, both characters have been exposed to the marker. They could both be insane.
I'm underwhelmed but I won't be writing this game off until I see it in it's entirety.
Yeah, it did look very much like Gears. And I'm not a fan of the direction these games are taking, Dead Space and Resident Evil. There is a market for survival horror, and yet these games are leaning more toward action fps.
Very disappointing for a long time fan of survival horror. Visceral did the first two games right, but the third looks completely off key. I'll still keep my eye on it because I want to see how the story wraps up, but it might not be a purchase for me unless it really starts to impress.
