PlayStation Vita's Nico Nico video app will be getting some company next month. Sony's US PlayStation Blog announced today that a YouTube app will be released for the system as a free download in June.

Does anyone actually complain about the lack of youtube video support on a portable gaming device? Don't they have some Uncharted, Gravity Rush or Wipeout to play? Those people should buy some games and stop crying.

@Dir_en_grey Yeah, I know it's cool but we knew it was coming someday, people need to relax. I saw a lot of threads/topics in various forums complaining about it and they should waste their time playing games.
I need 15+ hours for my platinum trophy in Gravity Rush so I can't see myself creating topics/threads complaing about this kind of feature and wasting my time for something I know that is coming.
The thing is you can already download youtube vids now straight from Vita. People can just google it, it's a script site you bookmark and you can download vids even at 720p.

Until now, YouTube videos were not playable on anything. PS Vita will be the first, and therefore, all the crying about it was perfectly justified. I can't wait to watch YouTube for the first time.

forgive me for asking but.... what was the issue of the vita playing youtube (or lack of) in the first place? Was it a flash thing or perhaps html5 thing?
It certainly doesnt seem to be a hardware thing as my galaxy s2 can play youtube and that would seem to be an inferior platform to the vita (at least for games).

Not to actually use said something for what that something was meant for, and in this case games... Its people in general... But yes, I hope this does shut people up... But then again, they'll find something to cry about eventually...
But Gravity Rush is awesome, one of the best games I played this year, they should play the game instead of crying for the lack of a feature they can have on their PCs/Smartphones (and it's also a feature we knew was coming someday, can't people be patient?).
Yeah Gravity Rush is amazing, and I only played the demo. It even felt as if it was a small portion of an actual home console game which was adding on to the amazing. And to think that the best is yet to come, is something that people should consider on thinking about. Instead of waiting around for simple apps that can grant them the ability to watch the same videos they can see on the phone/ipod/pc/tablets... Pfftt, right now Im in it for the games, anything else added is more frosting on top of the ready-to-go birthday cake... The more the merrier, I say... (And no, I don't think some people have the bone that makes them patient)
@one2thr All I can say to you (withou spoilers of the story/gameplay elements) is that the full version is MUCH better than the demo (and yes, the demo is awesome).
@raiinstorm81 just wanted to explain why I was the first to disagree , u said the word finally, its not like we have been waiting that long, plus there is that unofficial youtube app to use while waiting and also people have smartphones aswell, just my opinion bra
See what happens when you are patient? We are getting more game and more apps these days.Maybe it will stop the complainers but the whiners will just find something else to gripe about.
what about flash support for videos not on youtube !!! And Ps1 games . EDIT** I know iphone doesnt have flash but i can watch videos there that i cant watch on my vita and if they do have a quicktime player like the iphone then i will be happy
Adobe doesnt want to spend time supporting mobile devices with flash capabilities anymore. So in this case its up to Sony to figure out a work around for your dilemma...
Nope i dont care about youtube , Mobile doesnt even have all the videos you can find on youtube.com . I just want to be able to watch the same videos i can on my iphone not on youtube

Good news that more apps are coming for Vita, although I personally can't imagine watching many YouTube vids on mine. If I'm at home or at a friends house I'd rather use a laptop, and if I'm out I'll always have my phone with me. I guess it's nice having another option though, and that screen IS beautiful.
I agree. I already got a smartphone, a netbook, a notebook connected to my flatscreen...but it is a good option, for those who will actually use it ;o)... and as you say, the screen is amazing !!!
While this is better than nothing I would much rather have seen a decent browser uppdate, so that I am not limited to youtube videos only. The app better support all Youtube vidos and play them in the best quality for the VITA using the screens full resolution at HQ settings. That would be slick!

The fact is, Vita should have launched with Youtube/Hulu support. We all know the main purpose of Vita, but how is it possible that my 3 years old cell phone is the more capable multimedia device than my Vita?
The games are what's important, but wouldn't it be nice to upload a few videos of those games, straight to Youtube.

SUPER AWESOME!!! Now just update the vita to have folders for my many MANY apps & im happy.. Vita is the best handheld system ever made & i say that to ppl who are too blind to see its beauty.. Yep. You are totally right I paid 330€ for the console memorycard and one game and I cannot do simple things like use html5 or flash ,view pdf files, use email or copy-paste in my browser. My 120€ Android can do that and much more. I know that PS vita is gaming device but people also wants apps. And when they relase one app its not available cause I live in some poor country.
