Wow, that actually looks freaking awesome... Are DC finally going to let Netherrealm make their characters M rated this time? I hope so, because this look really promising.

zeal0us2387d ago

If its M-Rated I will definitely pick it up.
If its T-rated I will not pick it up. I don't need another MK vs DC title that just sits there collecting dust.

Baka-akaB2387d ago (Edited 2387d ago )

seems obvious to me that they are keeping DC away from MK precisely so they could drop the gore without complaints of dragging down MK .

There is no reason to make it a M game

Snookies122387d ago

*sigh* That lessened my excitement a lot... If it were by any other company I'd be fine with it. But why Netherrealm when they could use that development time for a new Mortal Kombat or something?

Larry L2387d ago (Edited 2387d ago )

I'm the biggest MK fan. But MK can take a bit of break for once. Take a nice long break on the high note the latest MK left us with. Besides, Mortal Kombat has been the #1 most dependable release schedule. A new MK has released approximately every 2 years since the series started. It won't be TOO missed if the next MK has a much longer development cycle to ensure another high quality product like the last one.

It's probably also good for that team who has done nothing but work on Mortal Kombat for 20 years to branch out and work on something new. And new IPs to work on also provides chances to experiment with new things gameplay wise and graphically, without having to take any uncalled for chances with new things on their flagship title.

I'm a MARVEL fanboy 100%. Not much of a DC fan though MK vs DC was probably the absolute best DC based video game of all time....though there havn't been many. I will absolutely be buying this game Day1 not only to support my all time favortite dev team, but also so show the decision makers that a good super-hero fighting game will sell huge, therefore greatening the chances that when Marvel and DC decide to next collaborate on another Marvel vs DC project...........it will be in fighting video game form. ANd hopefully it's NetherRealm that makes it.

I just hope NeatherRealm in this game makes up for the fact that "The Main Man" wasn't in MK vs DC when he would have been the absolute perfect fit. LOBO better be in this game.

The few other characters I'm reallly hoping are in are
Deathstroke
Zatanna
Swamp Thing
The Spectre
Captain Marvel
and DOOMSDAY

Green Lantern as well. Just based on the fact that he was SO fun to use in MK vs DC

Baka-akaB2387d ago (Edited 2387d ago )

"*sigh* That lessened my excitement a lot."

I dont even get that . Even in comics there arent that many mature rated stories , why would you expect them in a mainstream media like videogames , precisely when both DC and MArvel are pushing family friendly tv shows and movies like crazy.

And from a story angle it makes no sense . Superman and batman dont ripe heads off nor even most of their villains .

"when Marvel and DC decide to next collaborate on another Marvel vs DC project"

I know i'm the party pooper , but wont happen anytime soon .

Even in comics form those only happened because both companies had amicable CEOs , were on the verge of bankruptcy , and ran out of ideas .

Right now , both are backed by powerful entities , their CEOs had not so amicable words toward each other , they are making lots of money with movie licensing deals , and comics sales are picking up again .

And both companies got a few gaming successes now .

Fat chance of a crossover like that .

Larry L2387d ago (Edited 2387d ago )

Well your last point is the very reason I think a Marvel vs DC fighting video game will EVENTUALLY happen.

Both companies have now had a taste of successfull video games.

That's EXACTLY right, and that's EXACTLY the reason it could happen.

How each company is doing monetarily has had nothing to do with when the 2 companies have done cross-overs. In fact, if anything, they only tend to team up when they're both doing well. They did it in the mid 80's when comic sales were HOT for both companies. The Marvel vs DC series (which was basically a fighting game in comic book form) was in the mid 90s when comic sales were hot for both companies. And the did JLA vs The Avengers in the early/mid 2000's when.......you guessed it.......comic sales were hot for both companies.

So imo your last point defeats the rest of your point because history has shown that Marvel and DC have actually done all their cross-over stuff when both companies were doing good. They didn't do the cross-overs to stimulate low sales, they've always done them to take adantage of high sales.

That's why I absolutely think that now that both companies have been involed with successfull fighting games featuring their characters, the next time Marvel and DC decide to collaborate, there's a good chance it will be in the form of a fighting video game.

Baka-akaB2387d ago (Edited 2387d ago )

Not at all . marvel vs Dc was because they were nearly bankrupt . In fact Marvel filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection the same year they decide to start the crossover , only a few months afterward .

Comics industry was in a slump , and Image comics had taken a big chunk of their business

And the rest is actually relevant . The companies got human beings behind it that arent friendly at all and precisely shot down multiple neat crossover initiative from beloved creators (Like Batman Daredevil).

They dont like each other and are very successful on their own ? No crossover till some major issue arise imo .

i don't see the need to make it an "m" game. superman doesn't rip people in half and neither of the other heroes is overly violent to the point of warranting gore. i can see why people wanted mk vs dc to be "m", but that's only because mk is known for the gore. dc isn't, so this could be a perfectly decent game without it being rated "m".

Christopher2386d ago

Didn't care for it at all. I just hope it's not a reskinned MK game like MKvsDC was.

Spenok2386d ago

This does look awesome. SuperMan freaking uppercutted him out of the stratosphere lmao. o.0

Oh, and Baka has a good point. There is no need/reason to make it an M rated game. Hence the reason its strictly DC.

Ken222387d ago

Make it like MK with blood and everything and i will bite.

-GametimeUK-2387d ago

Looks promising for DC fans, but unfortunately I'm more of a Marvel type of guy. Meh, I don't really like fighting games anyway.

yesmynameissumo2387d ago

I dig how Batman is modeled after Batman Begins.

DarkBlood2387d ago

i notice superman is sort of modeled after Henry Cavill whos playing the man of steel at least it looks like that from the looks of it

Baka-akaB2387d ago

It's a bit of both , it's modeled after the current comics superman to me . But the comics is obviously trying to close the look gap with the upcoming movie

problemchild842386d ago

I agree, also i hope the artwork is done by Alex Ross, or a collection of artists each doing their own version of the characters with common ties to one another.

The Meerkat2387d ago

It will be hard to balance the powers.
i.e. The Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter.

But I think its one to place on my radar.

TCG_Returns2387d ago

Yeah for real.Pretty much all DC characters are OP as fuck, compared to most marvel guys anyways.Curious to see how they balance it out

TheController2387d ago

I wouldnt say that theyre OP compared to marvel characters at all. each universe has someone that does pretty much the exact same thing as the other and capcom did it successfully with MvC1-3

Baka-akaB2387d ago

I dont see it either . Seems that way to some only because traditionally , marvel heroes are more "gritty" , less alien and down to earth , personality wise but otherwise ?

Superman and Martian Manhunter ? Meet Thor , Hulk , Sentry , Captain Marvel , Hyperion , Beta ray Bill

Green Lantern ? Meet Nova , Quasar , Darkhawk ,Silver Surfer , Adam Warlock .

Darkseid ? Thanos actually fight most of his battles . And there is that little guy named Galactus .

Wonder Woman ? Here is Ms Marvel , Sue Storm , Jean Grey , Hope summers , rachel summers

Flash ? Well he's slower but there are still Quicksilver and loads of villain .

Etc ...

Larry L2387d ago

"Darkseid?, Thanos actually fights his battles"

HA!!! Thanos is my 2nd favorite comic book character behind only Wolverine, so I love this line. It's funny because of how true it is......well......as "true" as comic books can be I suppose.

pwnmaster30002387d ago

@baka
Yeah captain marvel is dc dude

Larry L2386d ago

@pwn

This is why I'm calling for an act of congress to have DC's Captain Marvel officially be referred to a SHAZZAM!. Because there's always someone who says "Captain Marvel is a DC/Marvel character" when either of their names are ever brought up.

MARVEL also has a Captain Marvel, though I guess officially it's Mahr-Vell or something like that, but everyone just says Marvel even in the comics usually. It's annoying and one of them need a name change.

Baka-akaB2386d ago

The character is already called Shazzam . Has been for a while and is now getting his own reboot book with that name .

they had no chance anyway most of the famous Captain Marvel tales are on the marvel comics' side .There have been a few legacy character with the name actually popular .

While even Shazzam's main foe had more exposure over at dc in recent years
