How Steven Spielberg Inspired Today's Top Shooters

IGN writes: Last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the single biggest entertainment launch of all time, pulling in more than $400 million on its first day.

It’s amazing to think that all of this came about due to an idea by Steven Spielberg, back in 1997.

The story is too old to be commented.

This is so true. He wanted a game that resembled Saving Private Ryan. That game was Medal of Honor Frontline. The D-Day scene was a direct copy of the D-Day scene in the movie. Even a town was modeled from the place they fought in at the end of the movie.

It's even more amazing that his vision also led to the Call of Duty franchise. The some people that worked on MoH soon went on to create Infinity Ward, and the rest is history.

It's funny how a little idea could grow into a multimillion dollar franchise.

"He wanted a game that resembled Saving Private Ryan. That game was Medal of Honor Frontline."

Negative. That is the lesser version of one of the greatest games ever made, MoH: Allied Assault. That game was truly the "video game version" of Saving Private Ryan. MoH:AA had every action scene from the movie transformed into a level in the game. And the D-Day scene from Frontline does not even compare to the epicness of the one in MoH:AA. It's still the best "storm the beach" level in an video game. Also had better music. Still don't why tho.

"The some people that worked on MoH soon went on to create Infinity Ward, and the rest is history."

Wrong again. Most of the people(including Vince Zampella and Jason west) that worked on CoD came from 2015, the game company behind MoH:AA.

Alled assault was not as close to SPR as Frontline was. frontline even had the part where the guy threw up before landing. The same towns from the movie was also used in the game. You remember where the guy got stabbed slowly, they even have that house.

And even if zampella and west came from allied assault, its still the same franchise.
