"As time goes on, it’s only natural that games and consoles are adjusted for inflation and increase in price. Along with increased production and material costs, consoles have been getting higher and higher. However, I believe there is a point where it becomes clear that consoles are becoming too expensive. With E3 looming ever closer, it’s an important time to inspect the prices of consoles and wonder exactly why certain systems are undergoing ‘average’ sales despite the growing industry. Simply put, they’re too expensive." Explosion.com
....cause they are PC Gamers who only play PC Games like me.
Day Z, Tera Online, and Firefall Beta pretty much take up all my game time and the consoles do not have anything even remotely close to these 3 titles.
Some people just prefer the type of gaming that's NOT on consoles whether it be iOS, hand held, flash, or Exclusive PC Gaming.
some people may even just like to read and enjoy the out doors and not play any games.
No they didn't. The PSP2000 was slimmer and had more features, such as added RAM, Skype, etc. The PSP3000 was even skinnier and added a better screen, a built-in-microphone, and even more RAM. There have never been any features removed from the PSP. Unless you count the PSPGo, which removed the UMD drive but added a hard drive.
"the only system that sells will be the affordable one."
No. The most affordable one will obviously sell more, but the more expensive consoles are obviously selling more-than-well.
Console gaming isn't ever going to change unless something ridiculous happens, like all motion gaming or all digital downloads.
PC Gaming is becoming increasingly popular for sure, but that's mostly thanks to current gen consoles becoming a bit outdated. That, and, Steam is pretty awesome.
Either way i'll always be a console and a PC gamer. They both have their positives and their negatives.
This article was pretty poorly researched and poorly written, no doubt.
WOOHOO! I'M NOT A PERSON!!!
handhelds are not selling purely because of phone and tablet game sales. every niece and nephew i have once had a DS and now have iphones and ipads instead. they dont even touch their DS's anymore and don't want an upgrade, they are happy playing phone games.
right now console and PC gaming has never been better (handhelds aside) and we should just shut up and enjoy it.
What part of 4 million units sold means that the 3DS isn't selling? It sold 6 million in Japan and is killing the Vita right now (Vita needs more software). It beat the DS in first year sales.
There are those of us who want portie gaming but don't want it to be tripe or cumbersome. A tablet isn't really portable. I challenge someone to play tablet games on a moving bus. You need buttons.
Than I wonder where is Call of Duty making all of those record sales./s
Look at last gen console sales, then look at current-gen console sales. This gen there's a huge increase and there's way more consoles out there.
