Capcom wants full augmented reality for future 'Steel Battalion' game

Producer Kenji Kataoka said that the development team "partially" experimented with the idea for upcoming Xbox 360 title Heavy Armor, but hopes that a future Kinect device would provide full immersion.

"So you'd actually see the game - the game is around you, you'd see everything visually around you, and it's not just gestures. You're interacting with what you are seeing there, that's actually an augmented reality.

Discussing how the technology could possibly work, Kataoka said: "We'd give you a set of markers in your room, and when you wear AR glasses and [are] using Kinect, it would detect your head movements and everything else you do."

You'd need a fair bit of space, to compensate for moving around a bit (even if unintentionally).

It's not going to be fully immersive until they bring back the SB controller.
