Top Ten Military Video Games of All Time

From the PlanetPlaystation.com feature top list:

"We here at the Planet sites would like to wish you and yours a happy Memorial Day, and honor each and every person that has served this country in one way or another, keeping us all safe. We’re sure you had a day chock full of movies and BBQ’s and paying tribute to the ones who gave their lives for the good ol’ United States (as you should), but we actually spent a good amount of our time rocking through shooters like the recently released Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. And it got us thinking…what if we pitted the best military shooters against one another in a huge battle to see who was the greatest? Horrible list IMO

1. ARMA/Operation Flashpoint (A genuine military simulator)
2. SOCOM
3. Rainbow Six (The Originals)
4. Counter Strike
5. Battlefield

The old CoDs should be contenders in there also.

And CoH, and Brothers in Arms, and IDK if anyone else played this game but the Black Hawk Down series was great too...

To each their own, but I can't put a military game on the list unless it's at least realistic. The game has to be an FPS or TPS and it can't be too over-exagerated.

I loved CoH and COD2, but they are wholly unrealistic and don't deserve top 5.

HOWEVER, since this IS a top ten, I'll continue:

6. Ghost Recon
7. Medal of Honor
8. Brothers in Arms
9. Call of Duty 2 and 4
10. Halo 2 (the largescale battles were amazing)

Honorable mentions: Company of Heroes and Command and Conquer Generals

I have OP: Flashpoint GOTY Edition, It's so fun to create missions, but it's SO HARD to play lol it's a great game though, and I hope they remake it.

In the meantime however, I should upgrade my computer to get ready for ARMA 3.

I agree with you that list was TRASH!!!

1. Arma II
2. Company of Heroes
3. America's Army 3
4. Battlefield 2
5. Call of Duty 1
6. SOCOM 2
7. Napoleon: Total War
8. Medal of Honor
9. Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
10.Ghost Recon

These Games have the feel, teamwork, and grit of the Military Experience. I did my 4 years so I would know!

Teamwork matters and you Don't want to loose teammates in these games just like you don't want to lose squad mates in the military and on this Holy Day we remember those who have fallen for our FREEDOM!

A little bit surprised there was no Rainbow Six. Never been a fan of SOCOM but I think it's also deserving of a spot. I'm a huge Halo fan and Resistance fan, but I feel like this list should be more factual and realistic so I'd bump those two titles out.

Resistance and some other junk is on the list, but SOCOM, Operation Flashpoint, MAG, Brothers in Arms, and ARMA are not?

That pretty much kills the integrity of the entire list, for me. This list confuses "military" with "shooter" WAY too much.

EVE.... Fleet battles and one of the only games which has a real community. Also there are is an incredible amount of depth incorporated into the game which the military uses in a different form today.
