Jimquisition: The Best Looking Game of This Generation

The Jimquisition takes a break from discussing consumer shenanigans to focus a little on the games themselves.

What exactly is the best looking game this generation, and why does it look better than the games you're all thinking of whenever such a discussion usually comes up? As always, the best looking man of this generation has the answer (Jim is the best looking man because of his muscles). (Culture, PC, Viva Pinata, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, Xbox 360)

just started the vid , instead of saying viva pinata , he could have said uncharted 2 ...it's colorfull and NOT grimdark.
viva pinata is not a good choice.

Edit: saw the end of the vid..he should have said "art style" and not "colors" at the start ..art style is the king especially in HD ..that why 2d titles and cell shading games rocks and that's why i'm looking forward to jet set radio SEN/XBL/VITA ...

i understand the logic but i just can't agree on viva pinata ... in term of art style, many games have done better with bright colors as well .

It's like he just ignored all the beautifull 2D attempts made this gen

I'm quite sure he has, being a professional video game journalist and all. He was clearly trying to make a point about how some graphical styles have a longer-term appeal.
kevnb  +   1189d ago
and its a good point, but he left out WOW and crysis. Alot of those supposed awesome looking console games already look kind of bad to me now, and everyone will see it next gen when this whole hd thing settles down.

Wow and crysis don't stand the test of time as well that's why Wow was updated and that's why crysis 1 look bland now...
vortis  +   1189d ago
uh, Allods looks better than WoW and it's a WoW-clone.

This video was absolutely pointless. So colors mean it's better? Games like LIMBO are black and white and look fukin dope Journey for example will look awesome in 10 years. And just because a game will not look good in 10 years doesn't mean it has some fukin good graphics. Look at FF7 for example, it looks like a joke nowadays, but that doesn't mean it's not one of the best games ever. The same goes with Deus Ex, Half Life, Shadow of The Colossus and so on.

I understand bland and colorless visuals are less apealing, but war is ugly, it's grey and it's dark. Those are war games, not pinata games or games about flowers and rainbows.

He doesn't have enough strong arguments. All he says it's that colors make graphics look better and cellshade it's timeless. Well, that doesn't make Viva Pinata the best looking game htis generation.

Rayman Origins for example, is absolutely gorgeous. But you can't compare Rayman's art and visuals to Uncharted. Uncharted tries to go to photo realism, Rayman is cartoonish.

Lol good ol Jim, the Jimquisition is actually a great series and he is bang on with most of his points.

I'm surprised Prince of Persia from 2008 wasn't mentioned.

Amazing... He finally says something that makes no sense and the sheep still hang off his balls. Who cares what Gears or Killzone will look like 10 years from now when these games are the top of the line TODAY? Colors...at least pick a good looking colorful game like LBP or Muramasa. Those are beautiful games in any resolution.

This Jimquisition was terrible, but what's worse is how many nut huggers hang off his every word. Jim says Cell Shaded games look the best, now 80 people in the comments section of the Escapist magically feel the same way. GTFO...

I love when he talks the politics of gaming but the rest of the time, he's unbearable.

Yeah he's absolutely spot-on regarding the ACTUAL serious issues plaguing the video game industry. He should stick to those topics.

He could help spread some serious education about the gaming industry so long as he stays away from pointless topics like this.

Reviewing also seems to be a weak point of his.

There appears to be some rustled jimmies over here.

There is no need to be upset, Reviews are opinion pieces sir and the sooner you realise that the sooner you learn to accept one review which critiques a game appropriately while all the others just splash out a 9/10 because its a big game.

I wouldnt say im hanging off his balls because he says some things I disagree with but the majority of the time he explains my views correctly.

The again why are you on his content if you implicitly and obviously have a hatred for the man?

It may be time to put some flowers in your room.
