Hauppauge HD PVR Gaming Edition Review | Examiner

Examiner: There’s no question that in the past year or so, a big boom of user created gameplay videos have been finding a home on YouTube with a variety of video capturing hardware available.

Hauppauge however, with its HD PVR, and more specifically with the latest “Gaming Edition” is making it easier for would be video producers to record their videos and share their content with friends. (Hauppauge HD PVR Gaming Edition, Tech) 4/5

This guy is technically challenged enough not to know that HDMI capturing wouldn't work anyway, yet he's taking away a point for that in the review.

So...the differences between this edition and the 1212 model are?...

I'll stick with my 1212 until it burns out and pick this one up then, I guess. lol

Main differences, are the green light, the included universal A/V cables, the black case and that's it.

Ahhh, yeah, it's definitely not worth the purchase if you already own a 1212 then.

I'm gonne buy the Avermedia Gamecapture HD. It's better because you don't need a pc to capture footage.

On the PS3, the copyright protection would disallow HDMI input but not the Xbox 360. El Gato has their own HD capture device that is coming this year that has HDMI in. The point deduction included the delay between gameplay and capture, which according to the manual and Hauppauge, there isn't supposed to be any. Also needing a PC is a bit of a drag, and does not support Mac natively. You need a 3rd party app. That's why I gave it a 4.
